“Strong memorial”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2011

This memorial had just opened. Saw it in the early evening hours has the lights were coming on. Quite a lot of people there just taking it in. Wish we had more time to have heard the park rangers presentation.

This memorial is very different and modern. Very important quotations by Dr. King.

“A memorial to the man who changed the US”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

This memorial should have been built many years ago, but I'm glad that it is there now. Dr. King's face overlooks the Tidal Basin and the rest of DC, but the expression on his face shows a mixture of pride and longing, in a way that says, "Much has been done and much needs to be done." I am happy to see Dr. King have his place among the immortals of the United States.

The material used is not the same material as the other memorials and it almost looks like Arizona stucco to me. I would have chosen a different material, but that is just my opinion. I'm just glad that we have a memorial to Dr. King.

“Great tribute to a great man”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2011

Having the statue of the man coming out of the rock is brilliant. At the back on walls are snippets of some of his great speeches.
