“Excellent and charming hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Stayed at the Ritz earlier this year and had a fantastic visit. We only stayed there one night so probably did not stay there long enough to get the full experience. With that said, we thought it was a very good choice. The service was impeccable and the rooms spacious with comfortable beds. If anything it felt as if it was a bit off the centre (major places to visit), but then again the more peaceful the hotel was. We would definitively go back.

I recently stayed at the Ritz Carlton with my dad and we had an amazing experience. every staff member from the front desk to the restaurant made me and my dad and I feel welcomed and attended to our every need. if you need a good dinner recommendation, I would diffidently eat at the West End Bistro for dinner (amazing food). overall the Ritz Carlton exceeded my expectations for a luxury hotel and would recommend it to anyone looking for the true DC experience.

The club level is the best!! Free breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and evening snacks. Open bar!(club level) Very nice. Connected to the mall which offers everything you could need. Very convenient to the metro to the airport.

It was our first trip to D.C. and my daughter wanted to bring a friend along. We needed a suite with 1 and 1/2 baths as we didn't want to spend 1/2 the morning getting ready to go out.

We had booked a large 1 bedroom suite for our stay (2 adults and two 14 year old girls). From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly and professional. They were always there for us. Helpful, inquisitive, but never intrusive. Our room was clean and well maintained. The bed and sofa bed were very comfortable. They offered a rollaway too, which we tried for 1 night. Comfortable, but the girls decided to share the queen sofa-bed to save space and use the living room with less obstruction.
The ensuite bathroom was huge, and elegant. Lots of towels and 2 plush bathrobes. Even 2 pairs of disposable slippers. The 1/2 bathroom was a good size too. The girls had no complaint and had lots of counter space and drawers for their things.
We stayed 4 nights, and found there was ample drawers and storage for our clothes.
Our only observation was that the closet was not very big, and the safe was rather shallow, although you could stand a laptop vertically if needed. It was fine for us, but if we had more items to store, it didn't offer much space to spread things out.
There is a Wi-Fi charge for in the room-pay per device. I called the front desk to be sure before we logged on 6 devices. I was given a complimentary passcode to avoid the $60/day Wi-Fi charges. It was the first of several great courtesies the hotel provided us on our stay.
We did not use the fitness centre. We were just too busy outside of the hotel. We did look in, and it was very inviting. Maybe next time. The pool was under renovation, and at check in were told we could use the pool at another hotel a few hundred feet away.
We all enjoyed the evening cookies. What a nice treat.
Coffee was complimentary in the lobby in the morning, something we really enjoy, but if you need Starbucks, there are 4 within 1-2 minutes walk of the hotel.
We enjoyed the breakfast package for 2 adults, which was actually a $75.00 breakfast food credit to be used in the hotel restaurant. If you need a big breakfast, the weekend buffet really is a great start. The girls didn't have big appetites, nor my wife, and to my surprise at check out the few dollars we went over were not added to our bill.
In addition, we came back to our room after our last night on the town after 9:00pm. We knew we had missed the cookies. I commented to the valet we had a great time out, but the girls missed out on cookies.
When we opened our room door, we walked in to find a box of cookies and a tray with some chocolates with a thank you note from the hotel manager. We were very impressed. Several minutes later there was a knock on our door, and the valet was there with a plate of cookies for the girls. Sugar overload-no problem.

On checking out, I asked about the bill, to be sure about the breakfast charges. She said they had it correct. No extras. No mistakes.

I've stayed in many nice hotels, but this Ritz is a leader in customer service, second to none.

We look forward to our next stay.

My son and I had a morning meeting at a university in Washington, D.C. on the Tuesday after Labor Day and we decided at the very last minute to drive to D.C. late night on Labor Day to avoid the crazy and unpredictable D.C. morning traffic. I checked the internet for specials and the Ritz Carlton had a "Bed and Breakfast Package" that was really great. For $299, it included the room, breakfast for two, and parking. Separately, the parking is $40 plus tax and the breakfast is $75 plus tax and gratuity. The room was great; the sheets are bedding were soft, the robes in the room were plush, the products in the bath were high quality. We had a fabulous room service breakfast that arrived quickly, was steaming hot and included only the freshest ingredients. Our meeting was at 10:00 and it was not expected to run past noon time, so we didn't check out before leaving for the meeting. The meeting ran over and we did not get back to the hotel until almost 3:00PM! I went right to the front desk and explained the situation and it was not a problem at all. We were treated so well, the valet came up and politely asked for our parking stub so he could get the car and we could at least attempt to get out of town before rush hour. Everyone was just great. Ritz-Carlton is synonymous with luxury and this Ritz-Carlton was true to form. The employees were polite and helpful, the room was well appointed with soft bedding, plush robes and plush towels and the place was spotless. The bed and breakfast special gave me free parking for the day. The entire breakfast was removed from the bill--including the gratuity, so the bill was just the $299 plus tax--no hidden charges or tricks. If you are planning a trip to DC, try going on line for specials-- you never know what you might find. My stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C. was really great in every aspect and I highly recommend staying there.

Room Tip: A room near the elevator is always a good choice if you want a short walk to you room.

We stayed over 4th of July weekend. The hotel was not very busy. We elected to stay club it was well worth the fee. The room was clean and super was excellent. Parking was very expensive as is most of D.C.
