“Surprised by the large size of the suite...bad internet though...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We were happily surprised by the size of our 2 bedroom suite. The friendly management set us up on the top floor -as per my son's request--and helped us score the largest unit as well. The furniture is modern, the rooms are inviting and the kitchen is fully equipped. The quality of the breakfast buffet seemed actually better than other Residence Inns. The only complaint I have is that the internet service was inadequate, so make sure you have your own wireless service as a back-up, or you will be disappointed. Also, there is no pool in this facility, which didn't bother my son, but might disappoint some. Still, despite the poor internet, we would certainly stay there again. The Dupont Circle location was wonderful. Parking was not free, but luxuriously underground and super duper secure.

I've stayed here several times and been satisfied. The recent renovation has upgraded the rooms more stylishly. But I travel on business, and need functioning internet. The renovation got rid of cable internet and the building went wifi. After I timed out 3 times for sending a hotmail email, I called the front desk to complain. Instead of doing anything, they gave me the number of the company to call. I called, and the company said the plan Marriott purchased was fully maxed out with users - this was at 10:45 p.m., so shouldn't have been a problem. Marriott simply went cheap and purchased a plan that can't accommodate everyone's iPads, laptops, cell phones, Kindles, etc. I talked to the front desk in the morning, and they said that often the internet doesn't reach the higher floors. How can a hotel not provide high-speed wi-fi or internet in this day and age? I had to buy my own hotspot. Never again. Room was okay, quality of linens mediocre, staff friendly, food pretty bad, convenient location. So - plus/minus - but lack of internet kills it as an option.

Room Tip: lower floor might get you better wi-fi

Very good breakfast, everything in this hotel is incredibly clean, all staff extremely helpful and friendly. Great restaurants, grocery store steps away.
Pull out sofa bed mattress was too thin, slept on the sofa instead. Bed mattress a bit too firm for us (personal preference). Easy walk to
Metro, (be aware, extremely steep escalators!!!, not for
anyone with fear of heights).

I just checked out of this hotel after a four-week stay. It was a great choice for this. I had a comfortable, clean room on the street side of the 7th floor - no problems whatsoever with the place. Unlike some places, the TV included a full range of basic cable channels plus HBO, so I could keep up with all my regular TV watching including summer cable fare. I was in town long enough to really take advantage of the kitchen, which was well-appointed enough to make some good basic fare. Housekeeping staff was non-intrusive and efficient. The fitness center is quite adequate. Laundry machines are clean and work well (they actually do what the settings say they'll do - if you've ever had the opposite, you know how welcome this is).

The included breakfast was always very good and didn't skimp on quality or quantity - a good hot selection (4 selections daily, usually including a to-go option like a breakfast sandwich), plus cereals, make-your-own waffles, etc. The included dinner M-W each week was always a welcome option after a workday as well.

Finally, location is great - walking distance to plenty of restaurants, a little grocery store a block away, the DuPont Circle farmers market on Sunday morning, etc.

Downsides: I had some shirts cleaned, and the laundry service didn't do a great job on cleaning or ironing (nothing permanent). Also, the hotel failed my usual security test: I asked for a duplicate key, claiming I'd locked myself out, and I was given one without any ID check, just a room number.

Room Tip: I was happy with a street-side room on a high floor, but I'm a pretty deep sleeper. I think the...

I have to say the hotel staff was wonderful starting with front desk and housekeeping. Especially Teresita (in housekeeping) who was very helpful. The rooms were great and very clean. The only things i would complain about was the air conditioning was very loud and the wifi was barely there.
Breakfast was great and staff serving the breakfast was also very efficient.

The best thing about this hotel is the service. Every single staff person was pleasant and friendly. The first night we were there, the cleaning people forgot to clean our room but they were very apologetic and offered to come right away to freshen it up. Our key card stopped working one day and they fixed the issue immediately.

We ate breakfast each day -- waffles, cereal, fruit, parfaits and toast were some of the options. Mon-Wed dinner was also offered which options like tacos and BBQ. The food was not extraordinary but was decent and plentiful -- especially handy to help our family of four save money on expensive DC food.

The in-room kitchen was nice and well stocked with dishes so we could make lunches to eat picnics on the Mall. We bought snacks at trader joes and the local Metro market. Also a great money saver!

My favorite part of the rom was that it had a DOOR. Our teens shared the queen sized sofa bed with their own tv and we were able to have some privacy.

All in all, our room was very clean. I wish there was an ice machine since the one in the fridge didn't produce very quickly but that was a small thing. The hotel is only a few blocks from the metro and we even walked from the Mall one day since it was only about two miles away.

A great hotel for the money!

The lobby and breakfast area were a bit small for the size of the hotel but the service was second to none in this price range. Everything in the room was clean and appeared to be very new. Breakfast and evening social hour were well stocked with lots of variety. There were always at least two people maintaining the food areas during service times. All of the staff members are very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful to tourists. My only complaint was that I did not feel all that safe after dark. Stay away from the pizza place down the street. There were many better options in the area.
