“OK Pub Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

I have been to Murphy's a few times as it is very close to the Omni Shoreham Hotel where I like to stay in D.C. It is very near the Woodley Park Metro station. It is popular with locals and tourists alike and is nice for a quick drink or burger. We had burgers the other night. While the quality was perfectly fine, the burgers lacked a grilled flavor and there was nothing to really distinguish them. They were served with fried potato slices and I would have preferred good steak fries or French fries. Atmosphere is ok, nothing special. Service is good. On weekends there is entertainment in the bar area with a few TV's scattered around, all of which had horse racing on and nobody watching the other evening. Outdoor tables also available. Food next door at Open City is much better.

“Average Pub”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

We went for lunch after finishing a half marathon, looking for a burger or a sandwich and fries. I ordered the corned beef sandwich and was disappointed by the lack of meat and the potatoes. I was really looking forward to some fries and instead we all got a few potato slices. Not at all satisfying. The dining area was okay for a pub. The table we were seated.at was not wiped. Our service was good.

“Great drinks and specials!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

I went to Murphys last December with some folks from work. I called ahead to make a reservation and give them a heads up because we had quite a large group. The manager was very nice and accomodated us beautifully. They have 1/2 off drinks and food during happy hour, actually they have specials every day. The place is not huge, but it is a good size. They have a real fireplace which makes it warm and cozy. The drinks are great, not too strong and not too weak - just perfect! It is conveniently located near Woodly Park metro station. I will probably go back there again!

“An Excellent Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

On a trip to DC, we found this place very close to our hotel. It was not too crowded for a Saturday night. The food was excellent. Two new items are Irish twists on bar food. First is a Corned Beef and Cabbage Spring Roll, served with a dipping sauce of stone ground mustard, honey and other seasonings. The second is called "Irish Nachos." These thick potato chips are topped with cheese, bacon, green onion, tomatos and sour cream. The other foods are great as well.
