“Truly Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2006

The hotel was quite awesome, and I'd recommend the St Gregory Hotel to anyone headed to DC.

I was there the nights of December 29th and 39th 2005 and was lucky enough to be upgraded to a corner suite (even with my $95 a night internet special rate). The suite was extra nice -- it had a kitchen (complete with full-sized fridge, coffee maker and even a dishwasher), a sitting room area, and then a bedroom with a king-sized bed. The room was clean, on a non-smoking floor and smelled fresh. There was not one thing missing that I'd want to add to a room to make it more comfortable.

The mattress and linens were lush and comfy (in fact, I want to go back and sleep on that mattress some more!). The bathroom was stocked with a sampling of nice botanical products, and the washington post delivered to the door each morning. The front desk and bellhop/valet employees were extra nice and really went out of the way.

The Hotel is within walking distance of the Foggy Bottom and Dupont Plaza Metro stations and the Phillips Collection museum (which, btw, is open Thursday evenings). Kramer Books at Dupont Plaza is a great place to wander to from the hotel: a complete bookstore with a full bar and a nice cafe - open 24 hours a day on the weekends and until 2 am during the week.

ST Gregory is one of those hotels where they've taken pride in making things right and you feel that if anything does goes wrong, you know they'll go the extra mile to make it right -- and that's the best you can hope for in a human world.

Our office traveled to Washington DC for a holiday week-end December 9th - 11th. We were a party of 23 (15 adults and 8 children) and our stay at the St. Gregory was a success in everyone's opinion. From the moment we arrived each staff member we dealt with made our visit a memorable & pleasant experience. Front door, front desk, rooms, food at the M Street Grille, - all made our trip outstanding! All requests were handled in a warm, yet professional manner. As I was responsible for the arrangments, I was especially grateful to the St. Gregory staff and Lawan Rudd for making our trip just exceptional!

I stayed in this hotel in September with a friend. There was a bit of a mix-up with our room when we first checked in - they gave us the wrong room type and it took them an hour to rectify the situation. The staff were very friendly while they were trying to get us the correct room type but we were a little surprised that they left us standing at the check-in desk for the full hour.

Despite the mistake made at check-in, the hotel itself is beautiful and in a good location. The staff were very helpful and polite when their advice was sought.

The room was clean and the decor was bright without being garish. We didn't eat in the hotel so I can't comment on that. Our rate was only $120.00 per night which was excellent value - we had trawled the internet for 2 hours and were shocked to find such a cheap rate for a 5* hotel in DC but it wasn't a mistake (much to our relief!!)

You won't find a better hotel in DC for the price - great value for money (just make sure that you confirm the room type before arrival to avoid delays).

I recently stayed at the St Gregory over the Columbus Weekend. We visit the area often and like to try different hotels. The St Gregory met all my expectations and more. The 1 bedroom suite was well decorated ,large and very comfortable.
The hotel staff was very cordial and helpful. The St Gregory is very close to all the Georgetown shops and restaurants and is within a short walking distance to the Dupont Circle Metro. Had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the food exceeded our expectations. For those visiting the landmarks of DC this hotel is a good find.
We will definitely stay at the St Gregory the next time we return to DC.

This was a nice place. Very expensive though. I got what was listed as a bargain rate at $209 a night. Hotel was away from DC attractions, but we walked to them from the room. About 2 miles to the White House. Very safe and easy walk. Metro centers are about 2 blocks away which we used to get to RFK Stadium both nights to watch our Giants take on the Nationals. The rooms were very elegant and the staff, which is usually snobby in such places, was very friendly and helpful. Parking is all valet, but no extra charge which was a nice feature.

Based on the reviews on this site, I booked a stay at the St. Gregory's on a recent business trip to DC and was not disappointed. The room was good-sized and well-appointed: comfy king-size bed, CD-clock radio on nighttable, coffee maker and nice compact stereo system on the desk, hi-speed internet (extra charge), and very spacious bathroom. Everything was clean and in top condition, and my room was very quiet, even though it looked out on the street. Room service was prompt (and the food was actually quite good!) but on the expensive side. Staff was efficient. My only suggestions to hotel management would be to provide wireless internet and to get rid of the bizarre Marilyn Monroe statue in the lobby!
