“The comfort of an aunt's place in the centre of Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

I stayed for a few nights at the hotel. It's a quaint hotel and reminded me of an aunt I used to stay with. The room was kitted out with everything I needed and was exceptionally clean.

The hotel was on M Street, so very central for the Whitehouse and a number of nice restaurants and bars.

The only criticism I had was the noise from the heating in the room - it did sound like a plane taking off the first time the heating kicked in.

Other than that I would definitely recommend it.

St. Gregory Hotel is a great for all those visiting the DC area. It's right by Dupont Circle which is close to plenty of eateries, bookstores, bars and a short distance to the subway. The area is a clean and well groomed and that maintenance doesn't stop outside. The lobby was clean and led to two various in house restaurant and bar/lounge. On the day we were leaving there was live music playing in the restaurant, it was unfortunate that we didn't come down sooner to enjoy it. It really gave a nice ambiance to the place. The staff was very helpful and informative, giving us a run down of where there's a 24/hr convenience store and food locations since we were clearly not from the area. There was also a doorman for the inner front lobby door that would hold the doors open for everyone, they were extremely polite.

As for the room, it was extremely spacious, we were given a suite and for $120/night we were definitely not expecting a suite and definitely not a suite as nice as it was. The suite had a kitchen/living room area fully equipped with a fridge, stove, dishwasher (yes, a dishwasher) and pots/pans and whatever else you would need to make a home cooked meal. There was two tvs, a couch and two beds. The bathroom was also very spacious and came with citrus soaps which were very nice. The hallways and the way they numbered the rooms were very indicitive of how DC arranges their roads– random and weird, but you eventually find your way around. The security there was interesting you have to swipe your room card in the elevator to get to your floor, so don't lose or forget it! Also the elevator music was pretty random, all pop/dance music I think they welcome elevator dance parties because I mean... why not?

If you're thinking about visiting DC definitely try and reserve a room here.

The room was spacious and clean. There seemed to be quite a bit of activity near the back dumpsters the 2nd night of my stay from 1;30 to 3:00 AM. I called down to the front desk and they said they don't use the dumpsters at that time of night but I saw a car parked in the lot near the dumpsters. It sounded as if there was a lot of glass being thrown away. Made for a very difficult sleeping situation. In addition, the wireless connection was not good at all. Could have been the room I was in but I kept getting dropped. The hotel does provide a cord but it could only be used while sitting at the desk. For someone who likes to relax on the bed and use the internet, this wasn't a good option.

Very clean and spacious room/suite. Safe environment in that key must be swiped to use the elevator. Quiet, clean and convenient location. Toiletries were wonderful brand! Lovely scent in hallways (smelled clean and pleasant, not deodorized or flowery) Last minute reservation and amazing bargain for the city. I would return again and again.

Accidentally left plastic bag of toiletries hanging on bathroom door which was cheerfully Fed Exed to us. Can you say great service?

Color us impressed. Our suite was large with a kitchenette and lots of areas for our family of four to spread out. The room was super clean and everything was new. It felt our own city apartment. The person who checked us in at the front desk was wonderful: helpful, kind, pleasant. The doormen and bellmen were pleasant and accommodating as well. We stayed here one night and then moved to a fancier hotel a few blocks away for a conference but would have been happier to have stayed where we started.

The St. Gregory is a nice hotel not far from the Dupont Circle area and Georgetown. There are a number of nice restaurants in the area. It is a secure hotel -- in order to access the rooms, you must use your room key in the elevator. The hotel is a great value for the money. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting DC.

Room Tip: I would recommend a room on an upper floor to minimize traffic noise from the street.

I was very surprised that the room was actually a suite with a kitchen (with cooking utensils and stove!), dining area, couch/sitting out area, a big bathroom, a big make-up corner and a sizeable bedroom. The suite was very tidy and neat. The bed was very comfortable. There were many restaurants within a 5-minute walk, including a McDonald's that opens til 2 am. There was a loading area right outside of the hotel -- my friend who came to pick me up on the next day morning could just wait in the car. It would be perfect if the hotel could provide free internet. Still, I would definitely come back again and would love to stay longer.
