At three seventy-five per night, it's not the cheapest of places to sleep. It could, however, be one of the nicest... anywhere, especially for D.C.! The front desk staff were easy to understand (spoke very good English), friendly, congenial (all welcomed traits after seven hours of interstate driving). It is located very closely to the (free of charge) Smithsonian National Zoo, proudly displays superbly landscaped grounds, is QUIET even on the eighth floor and has beautifully kept interiors (and lobby). The Wardman Park has clean, comfortable and cozy (perhaps a tad too cozy in the closet sized bathrooms), great beds, great pillows, no frig, no micro, (only minus was the shower curtain that had obviously been used to snake a back-up in the toilet drain) self-parking at $23 per 24hr. timed park. Quiet, quiet, quiet in the mostly residential sector of NW. Relatively easy to get to on Connecticut Ave. (however, too far to walk to downtown attractions) conveniently located for a Metro ride. Extensive room service menu (be prepared to take a second mortgage on your home!) eat at the restaurants within or nearby instead. And spend your springtime afternoon on the Bob Woodruff memorial park bench lawnside amongst the tulips and flowering redbuds. It's worth the price of insomnia!
