“The Fairmont Hotel - great service and location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

My family recently stayed in a corner suite (4 of us) at the Fairmont whilst on holiday from Australia and found that the staff were extremely helpful. We arrived quite late in the day and they made sure we had everything we needed. My daughter got quite sick and there was so helpful. The location was also great - close to resturants in Georgetown, the Subway and walking distance to the LIncoln Memorial - we actually walked down to watch the sunrise early which I would recommend!

Thank you kindly for the review Gina K! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

We’re sorry to hear that your daughter got sick – but very glad that our staff was able to help your family during that time. We agree that the location can’t be beat and commend you for walking down to the Lincoln Memorial to catch the sunrise. It’s one of the most beautiful times of day in the city.

Thanks again and we hope to have the opportunity to host you in the future,

An excellent stay in a beautiful classy hotel. Treated very well and special treatment as it was our anniversary. Close to the gorgeous area of Georgetown, the only area to sty in Washington- the hotel interior was beautiful and the room was gorgeous with the best shower I've encountered in a hotel before. Staff were very obliging and a really relaxed and glorious way to end our USA experience. Didn't eat breakfast so can't comment but everything else was of a very high standard.

Over the past month, I have stayed at the elegant and very friendly Fairmont Washington during several weeks meetings at my nearby company headquarters. For one visit I also brought my family, and the children love it. The ideal location backing up against the lovely Rock Creek Park makes for a quiet and convenient setting in the nation's capital for evening runs and walks after work. Coming back to The Fairmont after a long day, the room is always immaculately attended to by the hotel's dedicated team. And that leads to my final point of endorsement. What really places The Fairmont Washington in a special tier of its own is the First Class Serivce provided by the hotel's stellar team of professionals. I have traveled throughout the globe, and American hotels typically do not compete with the high levels of professional customer service emphasized by so many hotels of other countries. But of course, The Fairmont is Canadian! Well done, team, and I look forward to see you all again soon. -Allen F.

Overall:
We (family of 4 with 2 young kids) stayed for four days in a beautiful 7th floor suite. Perfect spot for a family vacation in DC.

Pro's:
- First class service from check in to check out...literally every staff member. Special mention to the check in team that provided us with a wonderful room option and the front door staff that greeted us daily by name.
- Beautiful rooms (we had the Magnolia Suite which was perfect) and fantastic amenities plus wonderful maid service.
- Amazing location...a pleasant walk to the National Mall, across the bridge to G'town.
- Great food and drink service...we really loved an after dinner dessert for the kids and port for us in the lobby bar or in the outdoor garden.

Con's:
- Only one which is that the main gym and pool is an additional charge unless you are Fairmont Platinum or on the Gold floor. We were not. There is a very basic (free of charge) gym otherwise.

The Verdict:
We would return in a heartbeat. Aside from being a fantastic property in a great location, the personal service made this a 5 star experience. The only downside is that I have set my kids expectations too high for future trips...as my 5 year old said to me as we left, "are all hotels like this Dad?"

Thank you so much for the kind review mapleleafer12! We appreciate you taking the time to review and share your experience. It sounds like you had a fantastic vacation!

Everything you mention is spot on. Needless to say, our favorite part is that your 5 year old asked if all hotels were like this! What a great way to end.

Thank you again,

We enjoyed our four nights at the Fairmont very much. Having arrived from Australia after 21 hours flying time it was the perfect spot to recoup before we embarked on our sight seeing.
Our deluxe room overlooking the picturesque garden courtyard was very comfortable and the daily house keeping was very good.
The location was quite good as we enjoyed being close to the charming Georgetown village and we were reasonably close to the main tourist destinations. The concierge was very helpful.
Our check-in was smooth and we were told that our package including breakfast did not require a gratuity at breakfast. Breakfast was a very nice buffet to which we helped ourselves and the staff only had to bring us drinks because it was set up that way. A couple of the serving staff had attitude! I wish we had been given the right advice as we are keen to follow whatever the local custom is and not endure rudeness.
Breakfast was the only downside. There seemed to be confusion, 2 mornings out of 4 we were asked to sign the cheque, despite us reminding the staff we had the breakfast package. Even the hostess showing us the table was not sure about whether we should sign or not; its not surprising that we were told some guests with this package refused to sign.
Two days after our departure we were debited an extra $48.60 without any explanation. After we followed this up by email, we received an apology because the charge was indeed a system mistake!
Pity about the breakfast package glitch because the rest our our experience was excellent.

The Fairmont is an excellent property for the business traveler. Short walk to the Foggy Bottom Metro Station and also very close to Georgetown restaurants.

The service is outstanding in all aspects. I was especially impressed with the quality cost and timeliness of having laundry done at the hotel. I checked in on Sunday during a multi week business trip and needed to have laundry and dry cleaning done for the upcoming week. I called down and they sent someone up to get it. They asked when I needed it, which I was shocked. Most places the only option is next day or 4 hour express that costs a fortune. I told the gentleman later Sunday afternoon and he said no problem that I should receive it back within 2 - 3 hours. I asked if there was a surcharge for getting it that fast and he said no. I received my clothes in 2.5 hours and a far cheaper bill than other hotels for overnight service.

If you are not a Fairmont Club member, definitely worth joining. You receive free internet and also free use of workout clothes and shoes during your stay. This is an unmatched service that is very beneficial to the business traveler. I have only seen the workout clothes/shoes offering at one other chain and they wanted to charge $5 per day rental.

The room service selection is pretty good and the food is well prepared and hot on arrival. I enjoyed room service on two of my nights and the service and quality was great both times.

Thank you very much Lv2CtheWorld! What a great user name. We live to see the world too!

We’re glad to hear you had an excellent experience with us. Especially the laundry! We’ll be sure to send your compliments to our housekeeping department. They’re an incredible team. Your suggestion to join Fairmont President’s Club is a great one. We recommend that all travelers follow your advice!

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We always value the feedback. Looking forward to hosting you again,

Obviously this hotel has high standards for cleanliness and customer service -- it was great. We spent a long weekend in DC and appreciated the extra attention the staff gave us. The room was quiet and comfortable, The breakfast was excellent and worth the $19 price for the buffet. The concierge was extremely helpful. We rented bikes from the lobby and really enjoyed that. Gym is small and basic but for a small fee you can use the excellent Balance Gym which is on-site. Wifi in the room, but if you don't have a laptop or mobile device the business center is very expensive. Location is in a very nice, quiet part of town but be prepared to walk 5-6 blocks to the Metro.

Thank you Doxibug! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad it was an excellent one!

Our staff is incredible and big proponents of going above and beyond to make trips memorable for guests. The brand promise is “turning moments into memories.” It sounds like the extra attention from the staff was able to do just that for you!

Thank you again for reviewing. Let us know when you’ll be back!
