“Expensive parking!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2011

We stayed here this past weekend for a wedding and were not too impressed. Parking was valet and $37 a day! It also took forever to find someone to park it and to retrieve the car for us. They definitely don't have enough people working there. Also, the fire alarm went off while I was rehearsing at the church and my husband had to run down 8 flights of stairs with our 4 month old son only to be told once he'd reached the lobby that they were just testing the system.

The hotel is one of the oldest in DC. It is a historical building, actually. The rooms are nicely decorated, has comfy bads, good size working area. Tiny bathroom, though. For smoking public they have smoking floors - a rare thing these days. On the negative side: squicky corridor floors, old elevators. Service was good, except the bar men, who was ignorant to his duties - several of us approached him to order drinks, but he pretended we are invisible and continue to chat with ladies at the bar. After we finally got the drinks and paid for them, he did not give us a change - pocketing all of it. And we were willing to give a tip, but not 30 bucks on 70 dollar bill. So, do not bother to use the bar, or bring your own - that is what we did after all the frustration with that barmen.

I slept badly. The room we had was on the second floor, but almost street level as Connecticut rises. When I entered this room, dominated by a king size bed and very large heavy furniture, the room was ice box cold. No electric sockets for charging iPhone, iPads, laptops, except behind furniture that is impossible to move. One socket had no juice at all. The only way to warm up the room was to turn off the air conditioner and open the hall door. The windows do not open. At that point the room became stuffy. To give us air, I turned on the air conditioner and received an Artic blast. On the plus side was the staff and the Starbucks coffee in the morning, but at a price.

We were there on business for a ribbon cutting ceremony with the mayor. I wanted to make sure all of our executives that were going to be staying at the hotel had wonderful accomadations. The Churchill Hotel was just the place. The staff and service was ampicable. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. Great location in DuPont Circle!!! We had a wonderful experience. We'd definitely stay there again!

we have traveled around the world and this hotel was definately the worst experience we have had. we booked the hotel in early june 2011 for a late july 2 night stay. our flight was delayed and we called the hotel from the airport to relay this info. we were assured that this would not be a problem for check-in and they would note a late check in. when we finally arrived in dc we were exhausted, it was 11:15pm and we still had to quickly change and meet another couple for a now very delayed dinner. we were informed that our room had been given away! there was no explanation for this and the front desk staff were unfriendly, and appeared quite unconcerned about our dilemma and frustration. we were sent to another hotel and were comped for that night, but we were shocked by the disorganized, unfriendly and uncaring attitude of the staff. we were given absolutely no explanation for this situation. and there were 3 other couples there who were in the same dilemma . obviously, we would never recommend this hotel to anyone. a terrible experience and really exemplified the worst service we have ever experienced.

Stayed 1 night for a quick girl's getaway with out of town friend. Churchill is elegant, sophisticated and well located. Though it is a bit of a hike from Dupont and coming back is uphill for some parts. The front desk staff were some of the friendliest, accomodting and professional staff I've encountered in a long time. Bravo ladies! Even though we booked on a discounter we were never made to feel less than first class, like some other hotels. The value is all there. Great restaurants nearby, eacy to get a cab if needed. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend for romantic getaway!

Great historic hotel which was also an amazing value for the location. A short walk from the red line but uphill if you use the Dupont circle stop. Elevators are small, but work just fine.
