Ok, so we have been to other "Cajun" restaurants here & hands down, Bayou got it right! Being from Houston, New Orleans became my second home, not to mention that I & my husband went to college there--but in saying all that, I KNOW Cajun, & I know what gumbo tastes like. I'm usually suspect on trying restaurant gumbo, but I was craving it so I said, what the hell, I'll try it. I was not at all disappointed like I have been in the past with burnt roux & flavorless gumbo.
My husband & I both got Po Boys. I got half catfish & half shrimp. They used REAL French bread & a great remoulade sauce--no thousand island here! It was good. He had a hand grenade that was damn near from Bourbon St. & we shared boudain balls.
The food, the service, & the patio were all 5 star worthy...the only reason I gave it 4, was for the price...$13 for a Po boy with no fries is pretty steep! We will definitely visit again
