“My first choice of hotels in the DC area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2011

After my 4th stay at this hotel in the last 6 weeks, I had to share how great this hotel is. It is in a very convenient location (3 minute walk from the Metro Red line, 1 stop from Union Station) with a grocery store, coffee shops, fast food all next door. The large rooms are always clean, staff very friendly, breakfast buffet has loads of good choices, wifi is fast, TV has loads to choose from, etc. I can't find any faults with this hotel and it is definitely now my choice hotel when I travel to the DC area.

I was apprehensive after reading several of the reviews but I can honestly say I had a very pleasant experience at this hotel. For six nights I had a 12th floor room overlooking the night club but the noise level was barely audible except for Thursday and Friday nights and even then wasn't objectionable. (A radio would have blocked the sound I heard.)

The restaurant was good - many interesting menu items. Staff was prompt at breakfast and dinner. I found having the Harris Teeter grocery next door a great convenience and I took advantage of their selection of cooked items.

Access to DC is very good because the hotel is about 1/2 block from the Metro red line. The event I was attending was at the Reagan Center on Pennsylvania. The Metro trip was only about 10 to 12 minutes. Your also only one stop away from Union Station with more shopping, etc.

I found the staff helpful and friendly.

In summary, I'll use this hotel on my future trips to DC and recommend it to any one wanting a reasonably priced, quality experience in our Capitol city.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to outside noise, you might consider asking for a room away from the First Stre...

Came here for a weekend getaway. Took the Greyhound from NY and I chose this hotel because it is very close the the bus station- about a 5 min walk. Arrived close to midnight but check in was a breeze. The front desk and valet staff were warm and friendly. Upon arriving to our room, there was a tray of food left next to our door. Assuming it was room service from the adjacent room, we didn't expect it to be picked up until housekeeping cleaned up the next day. The tray stayed there the entire weekend! It's pretty gross to know that housekeeping disregarded something like that. I won't say the hotel is/looks dirty but it definitely makes me wonder how much cleaning they do inside the rooms if they can't even remove a tray of old food.

Location is very close to the metro station, as well as the Greyhound station. There are a few casual eateries, coffee shop, and a TD bank on the same block. There's a supermarket on the corner that closes at midnight everyday. The rooms have a mini fridge and microwave, which is a very nice addition. The lobby also has a little 24/7 "store" that sell drinks, microwavable food, and toiletries. There is also a gym and pool in the hotel but didn't get a chance to check that out.

Definitely should mention there is a nightclub directly across the street. Our room (9th floor) was facing the street so we could hear some street noise and music. It didn't really bother us since we slept late and had the tv on.

Brand new, large, nicely-appointed rooms. Near Capitol, museums and Union Station. $30 to park overnight. Harris Teeter grocery on the same block. Convenient location and good value compared to other hotels on the hill. Some sort of nightclub across the street. Saw long lines of people but no problem (never heard) the noise.

We ended up staying at this hotel after a ridiculous experience at the Courtyard Marriott around the corner. The valet greeted us nicely, as well as the hotel staff & reservation specialist. We did not have a reservation here, but we explained the situation, and they were more than happy to accommodate us. The room was amazing and we were more than satisfied with our experience at this hotel.

Our family of 2 Adults & 2 Children (11 & 8) found this Hotel wonderful for our stay in DC. It was fabulously located near Union Station (where we arrived by train from NY) & a healthy 10 minute walk back each morning to ride the hop-on-hop-off bus! (You do pass some homeless people but this was not an issue). We were warmly welcomed by the staff on arrival and treated well during our entire stay. They gave us the handicapped suite (as it was not in use) and it was HUGE! This was a great bonus with so much luggage!
The Hotel Restaurant served a lovely meal, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
There is a fabulous store "Harry Teeter" on the block which has everything you could need, from breakfast cereals to salads, pizza, beer & wine.....lots of choice for an easy meal.
The casual restaurant next door did a nice kebab as well.
The laundry was also handy although there is only one machine (plus 2 dryers)....but you can always swim in the pool or use the gym and wait your turn!
We would certainly be happy to recommend this hotel to friends and stay again if were were ever back in DC.

Good Day!

I am so happy to hear that you had such a great stay with us! I agree it is great to be right next door to Harris Teeter grocery store. It makes picking up snacks and food so easy. Also, it's great that you were able to see Union Station while in town. It truly is a beautiful building.

Hurry Back,

We stayed here as a family...wife and I and our two kids and their families...with 3 kids under 10...had 3 rooms...very nice and clean property...rooms are generous size...beds are adjustable for firmness although we didn't realize this until we were checking out...no one told us...Restaurant and bar are nice...service for dinner was slow...especially with kids...breakfast was great...food was good for dinner and breakfast...kids loved the indoor pool...and the fitness facility was above average for property this size...hotel location is not really convenient althoug it's only about a 15 min walk to Union Station where we boarded the hop on/off bus for our adventure into DC...there are no real restaurant options close by (within walking distance)...would defintely recommend however...

Room Tip: Ask to be far away from elevators
