Instead of the greasy, calorie laden, carbohydrate-in-a-bag that most of the Dulles concessions offer, Vino Volo serves beautifully presented small portions of superb quality food.
It was past 9pm when I found Vino Volo, and was tempted in by the wide selection of wines by the glass, and the short, but interesting food menu. I could have had a 3 glass sampler of red wines, but in the end chose an Argentinian Malbec which was rich and spicy, without being overpowering.
The food menu has 3 choices to pair with red wines and 3 to pair with white wines, but I chose several small plates to nibble along with the wine, so it felt a little like having tapas. The highlight of the food was a tiny vanilla bean cheesecake which was served on a small plate with a drizzle of mango puree.
It was a rather expensive dinner but by far the best airport food I've had in the US, and it was great to be able to dine comfortably when pretty much everything else in Terminal B was closed.
