Oh, man! This place was so great! We went to Ris on an early Saturday evening and sat at the bar. We were promptly greeted by two very nice-looking young men, Noel and Tyler, who were really fine bartenders and very personable.
They were very helpful as to what to order off the menu (full menu at the bar) and they weren't wrong in their suggestions! We ordered:
- Scallop Margarita (ceviche): lime marinated scallops with chilies, orange, avocado and tequila ice. This stuff is amazing and rich!!
- Grilled Octopus Salad: on Greek yogurt with feta dressing, cucumber, cured lemon, spinach and croutons. So tender and flavorful, perfect!
- Pine Nut Crusted Wild Alaska Halibut: asparagus, prosciutto and mushrooms with feta,
cured lemon and olive oil potatoes
We really did enjoy being there, mostly because Noel and Tyler were a lot of fun to talk with about music, etc. We stayed and stayed, having great wine, drinks, and good conversation all evening. Speaking of wine...the Sophenia Malbec is DELISH!! And I learned how much I love Mescal Tequila! I had their El Buho....oh, kids, I'm telling you...it's just smoky warm goodness that goes all the way to your toes after you drink it! And no nasty headache the next day. :)
So, when you are in DC, definitely look this place up and sit at the bar while having some real conversation with the bartenders - oh, and don't let any of the stodgy "regulars" deter you from enjoying your visit to this great place!
