“A gem! The crudo especially was outstanding.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Even though I was in DC for less than a week, I chose to have dinner here twice. The Escolar Crudo was crazy good. Service at the bar was excellent with lots of good menu pointers.

“Good food, great ambiance, but waitress with an attitude”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

Incredibly cool vibe and with a menu to match. Problem is the waitress thought she was too cool. Was impatient with us ordering, told us we hadn't ordered enough (it was too much) and was generally cool and aloof - which was in her better moments. Our teenage daughter literally burned her finger on a scorching bowl of jasmine rice that no one warned us was hot. After it was delivered my daughter picked it up to spoon some onto her plate and was burned - the waitress cooly with no concern dropped a packet of burn ointment and a band aid onto the table - as if this was a regular occurrence. No voice of sympathy or concern, no return to see how she was or even mention of it when she did return to drop the one dessert menu she could "manage to find". She clearly never mentioned the burn to mgmt as no one came to ask about the situation. We felt force fed and burned by her attitude if not the rice bowl. If you go be careful of the jasmine rice bowl and of sitting in Lauren's section. Very unpleasant evening.

“Nice dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

I have eaten here a couple of times now. I have found the service to be attentive and personal without being intrusive or overbearing. The food for the most part has been outstanding and very enjoyable. I might even call a couple of the dishes innovative. I would recommend the coconut shrimp soup, a bit spicy but great textures in the soup and an amazing flavor, the steak is a bit on the sweet side, but well prepared served on a delightful supporting set of veggies. The Singapore slaw was a great treat, the textures of the salad change as you are eating it, from really crunchy to smooth and creamy, really worth a try. I had the chicken as well and found it to be a touch dry and over cooked. It is called crispy garlic chicken and its name does not serve it well. It was not crispy nor was the garlic present. Otherwise, worth a visit.

“Delicious Asian”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

We always eat at Zentan when we are in DC, as it has a great Asian fusion menu. Sushi is great, and the skirt steak is amazing. Also enjoy the Singapore slaw, and pretty much everything else we have tried. It is not the fastest service, which we are OK with, and it is usually busy and loud on the weekends. If you want a more relaxed, romantic environment, this is probably a place you should avoid. Great for small groups of friends though.

Thanks so much for your kind remarks – they’ll be shared with our staff. Your feedback regarding the crispy garlic chicken is so helpful. We took it to heart and we’re working tirelessly to make that change. Come back soon and let us know how we did.

“Almost hidden gem.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

I think this place is pretty fabulous. Considering it's in the now super trendy Logan Circle/14th St NW area I am amazed that it's still possible to walk in and get a table. Usually.
