“Hurricane Sandy Lifesaver”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Having been stuck in our hotel by the wind and rain the warm reception and great food at Scion was a welcome respite. The crab cakes were delicious as was my wife's steak with deserts to match.

“Good food, ordinary service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

Our hotel recommended Scion as a great place to eat for a casual dinner. The food was good; not an overly imaginative or vast menu, but fun and fairly casual. Prices are pretty easy going too, so no big issues there.

The main problems here, as observed by so many reviewers, is the service. This was probably the worst service I have experienced in many meals in the States. The servers were very genuine and friendly, but it wasn't professional or thoughtful on the part of anyone. The large and very noisy drinking party next to us waited 20 minutes for their check, and got increasingly loud and rowdier by the minute. In the end they had to ask three times for the check, and it took a long time to sort. We didn't appreciate the bad language, and this was hardly the restaurant's fault, but why we were placed next to them in the first place was a mystery, and secondly if they had been given their check when they asked for it, there would have been no problem.

The starters were great, but the wine didn't arrive until after we had finished them. The entrees came half way through the starters (and we are not slow eaters - the starters had only arrived 10 minutes previously), and the person who brought them out was cross that we didn't want to accept them then and there (on a tiny table where they didn't even fit). We got the same plates about 15 minutes later, after they had no doubt returned to the kitchen and were waiting for us. As a result, the pork was pretty dried out. This is completely unacceptable, and I have never experienced a plate of food being forced on us half way through another course ever before.

The entire time we were eating the entrees, one of the servers was dragging chairs around beside us trying out different table configurations. Why???

The service was slow and uneven, and the restaurant only 1/2 full. There were plenty of servers, so no reason why we were so neglected.

Perhaps this restaurant is OK for brunch or lunch as others have mentioned, but I wish we had gone somewhere else for dinner

Two and a half stars. Two for the food, and a half for the service.

“Excellent food and fine ambience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012 via mobile

We enjoyed a fine meal of seafood marinara, farm fresh salad, Mac and cheese and chocolate lava cake. Service was very good and the waitress Amanda very pleasant. My wife and I would return for more meals.

“Very nice place, good though not cheap food, recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

This was recommended by our hotel as a place where salad lovers, seafood advocates and carnivores would be happy. The hotel staff was right. Food is very well prepared. I had crabcakes, my companion had salad. Both very good. Friendly service.
Lunch for each of us was in the $10-15 range.
Nice place.

“Great Brunch!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012 via mobile

Across from my hotel, we happened upon Scion while they were serving brunch and it was fantastic. The lobster hash was to die for...homefries with crumbled bacon, lobster pieces topped with poached eggs and hollandaise...amazing. The vanilla french toast was really yummy and the bottom less Bellini idea is pretty awesome too. Waiter was friendly but often MIA or chit chatting at another table....waited a while for check. Overall I was very pleased and would definitely go back!
