“Lovely for a quiet lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

The quick lunch specials (2 for $19) is a great deal - portions are just right and the food is innovative and tasty! The dining room is set up so one can actually have a great conversation. The waiters are knowledgeable and polite - very service oriented. Will return!

If you're staying in the W, perfect place to get a meal instead of wandering out. Quality steak and service.

“Amazing steaks but pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

Great steaks, cocktails and service in a great location after a day of sight seeing. If you fancy a splurge it's worth it as is the rooftop bar.

“Dinner and a view of the Washington Monument”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

In the W Hotel, this high, elegant room, classily decorated in black and white, offers a view of the floodlight Washington Monument as you dine. The onion soup comes with a light Gruyère soufflé floating on the top, the moules marinière with garlic toasts. Or try the braised short ribs, veal porterhouse or the lamb chops. Friendly service. Short, interesting selection of wines by the glass. A glass of Taittinger for $12 is not bad.

“Don't fall for reviews based on prices.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014 via mobile

This place ain't cheap! But, for innovative, excellent, chic food, this is worth the cost. Which, once again, is significant.
We dined on our wedding night, and could not have done better, even in a city of food.
I had the tasting menu, and was delighted! There were five courses, each a small jewel of taste. First was a tuna tartar that was terrific, and made better by its saucing and presentation. The only thing missing was some baguette on which to eat it. Second was a small crab cake with grapefruit and avocado; third was steamed rock fish, apparently a Chesapeake bass-like fish, served with a miso sauce and sticky rice. Fourth was short rib, and last was a lovely lava like cake with ice cream. All were small servings, but beautifully prepared and presented.
My companion had cheese and black truffle fritters, peppery and wonderful. His filet was an excellent cut, salt crusted, and prepared perfectly. Three sauces were good, but the Béarnaise shone. His red velvet ice cream sundae was lovely, with cream cheese frosting.
The wine list, large, is steeply priced.
Service is flawless, attentive, and top of its game.
Dinner for two, with two bottles of wine, was nearly $300, but believe me, worth it.
You get food like this once in a while. Buck up, pay up, and enjoy the best life has to offer!
