“Nice, but not worth a special trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

Small garden that really only represents this area. Looks to be fairly recent by the size of the plants. Nice conservatory with rotating main exhibits.

“Great Place for a Rainy Day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

I have been to the Botanical Gardens in the Bronx, NY a few times and have visited Botanical Gardens in other countries. This place ranks right up there with all the best of them. It is 95% inside and since it was raining one day during our trip to DC we decided to go here, it was a great decision. When we visited there were many orchids on display and they were magnificent. It was very crowded because a lot of schools were off when we were there but the adults kept the kids under control for the most part. There are a few hands on places for the kids in one room where they can smell the various things in the gardens, this also provides a nice resting place for the adults with them. The place was clean, as were the bathrooms. There was a nice display of a Japanese garden in one room.

Beautifully done and organized. A little difficult for scooter operation particularly if crowded. Plan to spend a few hours and absorb the beauty and ambiance.
