“The building, namely the Conservatory - is worth a quick visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2012

If you are not interested in all things botanical - the conservatory is still worth a quick look. It is amazing to think that this is a botanical 'library' housing about 4000 varied botanical specimens. The orchid display was simply stunning...I have never seen such an array in one place. I enjoyed a quick wander through the grounds outdoors - but it was not the size or scale of other gardens around the world.
Worth a visit - located on the National Mall - next to the Capitol Hill Building - pop in for a quick visit.

“Orchids,orchids,orchids!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

We visited during the annual orchid exhibit. Orchid overload! So many beautiful types of tropical orchids. Small, large pink, orange, purple, green, speckled and just plain white orchids which were exquisite in their beauty!! As you can tell I love orchids and was thrilled about the exhibit. My son and his girlfriend enjoyed the rest of the exhibits while I took pictures of every single orchid in the exhibit. Maggie loved the section in the gardens with plants that are used for medicinal uses. My son enjoys seeing the different landscapes using the plants from the deserts and from rainforests. They finally dragged me out after my camera card was full. Fantastic place to go, even when they don't have the orchids, but infinitely better with the orchids!!!!

It's on the Mall and easy to miss, but you shouldn't. It's lovely and amazing. So much beauty!
