“Easy to access”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

The "rooms" were a great way to tell about the life and history of FDR's presidency. No stairs, easy to view and walk from one area to the next! loved it!

“Surprising Monument that gets little attention”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

When we went to see the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, it was as much because it was there near the others as anything else. What a shame. This monument deserves to be visited for it's own right. I think it isn't because it's beauty cannot be captured in a single photograph. It isn't stunning like the Lincoln or Jefferson Memorials but it beautiful nonetheless.

The FDR Memorial is laid out on a path so that you visit each section on it's own. The pieces are tied together by the meandering path, by the trees and landscaping, and by the artful use of water. Three sections represent each of FDR's terms in office (yes, he was the first and last president to serve three terms). And his wife, Eleanor, is honored with a statue and plaque commemorating her position as a delegate to the UN General Assembly. For the dog lovers among us, the Roosevelts' terrier, Fala, is also preserved in bronze. In fact, I think they captured his likeness better than FDR's!

“Very big and artistic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

From waterfalls, to beautiful trees/statues and sculptures, it's well worth the visit. You will see working men statue with famous quotes from FDR along the memorial, also the statue of FDR with his Yorkie dog. Beautiful and well kept memorial

“FDR Memorial - Worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Great memorial, makes you think and rest for a while. A quiet place with many citations that have lasting effect. Recommend to visit this memorial, although it is quite a long walk to go there.

“Great Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

We did this in the evening with a group with a tour guide. Great experience. Make sure to wear "walking" shoes! The guide was very informative and fun. We went with Washington DC Party Shuttle. Worth the $ for sure!!
