“Rich History @ the U.S. Capitol”
My visit to the U.S. Capitol on the 15 of Sept 2013 was again another reminder of the rich history that is in Washington, DC. The outside has a great view, but getting inside and taking the tour was more inspirational for me. There is just so much that one can appreciate in this 1 and 1/2 hour tour. The introductory video in the theatre was also very educational especially for us who are still learning the American history. The elegance of the different halls we toured cannot be ignored. The well coordinated tour goes all the way to the well-crafted Rotunda (just under the Dome). If you book your tour pass online few days before, you will not have to wait in the long queues.
Statues are the order of the day in DC, so in your visit to the Capitol, you will not miss any, there are just so many of them. The biggest being the Statue of Freedom in the Emancipation Hall.
I enjoyed myself and it was worth the visit and will recommend to anyone who visits DC.
Note: security is very strict here, so make sure that you travel light and no food or water is allowed (including sprays and sharp objects)
