“Breathtaking!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

From the moment I laid eyes on this building, it took my breath away! This is a building that you see on the news, in movies, and in history books, and there it was right in front of me. I was with a group of college students, so we didn't get a tour, but we did get to have coffee with our senator. Great experience! Part of our group was later able to watch the senate vote that day and they had a great time being part of that. From what I could see of the inside of the building and the sculptures, they were beautiful. I'd like to go back someday.

Be prepared to wait in line for security...outside. Your bag may be checked. Do not carry liquids or food, including things like hand sanitizer and perfume.

This was great to see! One of the things as an American you should be able to say you had the pleasure of seeing. It is a gorgeous building and it is breath taking at night!

“Capitol Hill”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

A truly magnificent tour in all aspects, although we felt our group was lager than others, with the result the guide had to wait for everybody at each different area. The guide was first class and his knowledge was extensive. We were advised after the tour was over where to go to get tickets for the House and Senate galleries and this We would recommend is done. We also visited the library, but will review it separately. Again after the tour is over you are free to wander at leisure.

“So impressed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

Our hotel was within walking distance of the Capitol.
We were so impressed with the tour and short video clip. As an educator and seeing things firsthand, I have more respect for the organization of our govt. I was disappointed that our senator didnt respond, as we inquired about tickets to certain areas only allowed by government personnel.
We sat in on a hearing with the House of Representatives. Ironically, it was about the standardization and uniformity of background checks for school staff! Very interesting.

There is a lot of walking, so make sure your feet and your heart are up for the tours. :)

“Tour was enjoyable, but also disappointing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013 via mobile

We requested and received Capitol tour tickets from one of our senators. It was very disappointing that a view of the House and Senate chambers was NOT included in the tour. Security requires special passes to view those areas. Wish we had been told by the senator's staff about this requirement. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and made sure she identified the statues sent from states of those present in our group. While it was worthwhile to see the Capitol, it would've been better to see more than the Visitor's Center, the Rotunda and Statuary Hall. The exhibit area is also available for viewing.
