“Like from the US movies...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

Walk around the Capitol Hill and experience scenery like from many US movies. The view on Capitol is majestic. To not see it is as same as not to be in DC!

Passed by outside only.
This iconic buiding is in background of most american news when shown in television. Looks great to watch.
Smithsonian complex nearby; lots of places to cover by walking.

“Magnificient and Historical”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

From a distance, this monument stands tall and magnificient. Here the laws of the US of a are being debated and passed by elected legislators.
The Ulysses Grant monument is situated nearby overlooking a man-made lake. The surrounding area is simply marvellous and one can take a slow serene walk to the multitude of museums nearby. A must place to visit

“A good overview”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

My top tip for getting into the Capital Visitors' center would be to go into the Library of Congress and go through security at the entrance to the tunnel that leads to the Capital Visitors' Center. It may have been the time of day, but we did the reverse and the lines seems infinitely shorter on the LOC side when we went there after the Capital Visitors' Center tour.

We had done a personalized Capital tour previously, but wanted to see how the Visitors' Center handled the tour and what it was like. Of course it wasn't as "personal" as our other tour, but considering they handle 10,000 people a day, we thought they did a good job of giving the highlights - the Senate and House galleries are not part of this tour - you must get passes for these through your Senator or Representative.

The exhibits about the building of the capital were very interesting. The displays showing how the buildings around the Capital were built over time were very effective. The "museum" area of the Visitors' Center may not be as interesting for teenagers/children, but we found it very informative and interesting.
