“Cool Space and some Good Shows”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

The Kennedy Center is a good place to check out. There are different shows playing all the time and usually they are good. There are several theatres - some larger than others. Be sure to go to the MIllenium Stage shows - free shows every night! Explore the building, too, artwork and flags to admire.
Parking is super expensive, so take advantage of the free shuttle from Foggy Bottom metro. That is a much better option than paying to park at the Kennedy Center.

“Art and Views are Lovely - Building not so much”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

The Kennedy Center draws many wonderful performances. The theaters vary in size. Coming out at intermission and walking onto the deck area at night to look at the river or the city is a lovely experience. We have only eaten at the cafe - as there really is no other restaurant convenient to the center. This is my biggest complaint about it. For a center that is named after the President that sought inclusiveness for all - the Kennedy Center is rather removed from the city. There is no access from the river to it, a highway to cross on the city side that cuts off any walk towards downtown so your only street access is out the main front doors to an area of DC that has little to offer other than the Watergate condos. Imagine if you could park at the center, enjoy a nice stroll along the river to Georgetown or the West End for dinner, and then stroll back for your show? Now that would be a fun night on the town. But if you want to eat anywhere but there - it's a drive to the restaurant, park, eat, retrieve car, drive, park watch show - more painful than it should be. I hope they are able to move forward with the renovation that was written up in the Post the other week - that might help it live up to Kennedy's legacy.

“Remember the free 6:00 p.m. Concerts 365 days/year”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

The JFK Center is grand. Its many stages and venues make this a hive of artistic activity. It's grand foyer is one of the largest public reception areas in the country. While its many large productions are well-advertised, do not forget the FREE concerts provided 365 days/year at 6:00 p.m. These are shorter, 45-75 minute, concerts that are also streamed live on the web.

“Dated building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

To say that I went to the Kennedy Center for a performance, well that's impressive. However, I thought it would be much more glamourous on the inside. It's a building built in the 60s or 70s, and it's pretty dated. I was expecting a more plush interior. However, it's the Kennedy Center - a nice visit if you can make it out there.

“Sheer Madness at John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

The Kennedy Performing Arts Center is a beautiful venue right on the Potomac River. The Center has free admission. Just wondering around the Center and its giftshops and going out on the balcony to gaze over the Potomac and the DC/Virginia skyline is worth the visit. If you're going to visit, I highly recommend getting tickets to "Sheer Madness." It is a who-done-it/comedy that is highly amusing and has much audience participation. The tickets to it are VERY reasonable and young folks (10 and up) would love it! Also, you can go up to the top floor and grab dinner at the cafe. Make a night (or matinee) of it!
