When I travel to DC from Europe, it is always a pleasure to go to the Kennedy Center if I can- mainly for the concerts by the internationally under-rated NSO. During early November, the world famous, if controversial, pianist Lang Lang performed a number of times. The facilities seem well maintained; for instance, the cafe on the top floor serves fresh and attractive food, though the associates working the registers are not always the most friendly. The two gift shops meet general needs, even if the range of CDs is rather limited. The concert hall and theatre are acoustically fine and well ventilated, with comfortable seating.
A useful service is the free shuttle bus from and to Foggy Bottom metro station, though at peak times it is quicker to walk (10 to 15 minutes).
