“Freebie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We went to the free concert at the John F Kennedy Center at 6:00. There's one each day. Great opportunity to experience the ambiance of the center without having to book a show

“Nice structure but not much else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Worth walking to if you are at the Lincoln memorial but outside of the distinctive rectangle structure, nothing that special

“Incredible venue.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is truly an incredible venue. In one building it houses a theater for dramas, musicals, etc., a symphony hall, AND an opera house. All three can be in use at the same time. We attended one of the nightly free concerts in the lobby. It is conveniently located near Georgetown and easily accessible by the metro and a free shuttle bus.

“Theater Program - Subscription Holder Comments”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I have been a Theater Program Subscription holder for several years - which lets me attend all of the shows and musicals at the Kennedy Center. My membership is for Saturday matinees, which is an ideal time for a show there. Less traffic, time for a leisurely dinner in DC or Virginia (where I live) after the show.

Most shows are performed in the Eisenhower Theater - with an occasional production taking place in the Opera House. There's not a bad seat in either location.

Get there in plenty of time to walk around the Kennedy Center - it is a spectacular landmark in DC. Most shows are at 1:30 (curtain time) with 1:00 pm doors. In warm weather take a walk and enjoy the view of the Potomac River and Georgetown on the huge patio adjacent to the main lobby hall.

One concern is that people have forgotten how to "dress for the theater". While jacket and tie are not really necessary - there are far too many who show up in jeans and tee shirts. So please think about your wardrobe before you go.

Parking prices are a bit steep. they were $20 for the longest time and just jumped last year to $22. In my opinion that is way too much when you consider the ticket prices.

On Metro (from Foggy Bottom) there is a free shuttle to Kennedy Center which is very convenient and FREE.

Plan your next trip to DC with the Kennedy Center in mind. Whether its for a show, concert,or opera --- its a must see.
