“Little jewel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2012

Tucked away in DuPont Circle, this small museum had an interesting show of works inspired by items in their collection. Fabulous museum store. If you're a textile fan, come prepared to purchase some quality items.

“A good option if you are in Du Pont”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2012

Apart from seeing the interesting textiles, and the snippets of history/culture the curatorship offers, it’s also a great opportunity to wander through one of the stylish historic homes of Kalorama!
There’s also an interactive learning center, where you can touch the textiles and develop your own patterns using the textile-making techniques.
Tip: I went on a Saturday morning, and it was very quiet. In the learning center, there's lots of room to sit down and relax. And there's a selection of textile books that you can read.

“A Gem of a Museum”

The curators consistently organize great exhibitions and programs on textiles from different parts of the globe. There's always something amazing to learn about with each visit.

“Wish I lived here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2011

The museum is in a great neighborhood - so beautiful. The current exhibits were so-so. There are pictures of when the museum was a family's home - nice ! Wish I lived there. The gift shop has some really cool and cute items. The staff in the museum and the shop were very cordial and pleasant and helpful.

“Surprisingly interesting!"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2011

I was not keen about going here, but actually found it to be most interesting. First, as it is a residential area, free parking is available in front of the building. Admission is "suggested" to be $8. There were fascinating displays with the history of fabrics from all around the world. An interactive room where one can try to spin thread from wool, tie knots, weave, etc. was fun and unexpected. We planned to spend 45 minutes, but ended up being there 1 1/2 hours. It was not at all a "geeky girl museum" I thought it would be. Definitely recommended.
