“Hotel staff really stood out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2014

Just returned from a week in Washington DC over spring break. We chose this hotel because very few hotels in DC offer rooms with 2 Queens for families. Very busy week in the city and the hotel was full. We were pleased when we arrived after 10:00pm and heard that the hotel was sold out and they were turning people away, they saved their last room for us since we are Rewards Members. For being the last room, we were very pleased. The room was clean, great condition and we were at the end of a hall which turned out to be very quiet and away from the street noise.

Every morning breakfast was packed, but hotel staff helped find us a seat, cleared tables quickly and moved chairs around to help our family find a seat. Breakfast selection was just as we expected. Saving $30 a morning on breakfast for our family was worth the crowded area.

Jay the concierge was super friendly, knew us by name after the 3 day. Helped us book a tour and followed up with us throughout the week on dinner reservations.

Lots of restaurants nearby to choose from. Metro is close and getting a taxi was super easy.

We did have an uncomfortable experience getting caught in a street mob outside the hotel. The hotel staff said the Miami Heat rivals were in town and looking for trouble. It was still daylight but scary for the kids to watch a woman throw herself at a moving bus. Being in a big city can draw these kinds of crowds though.

Great location for sightseeing Washington DC, this is a very walkable city and this location superb. Very good Irish bar attached to hotel, excellent food, beer and wine. Great breakfast included in price. Had problem first night where hotel was overbooked our first night, (Arrived at hight of cherry blossom festival) and hotel were very helpful in sorting out another hotel, compensating us financially and even giving us a free night when we returned to Washington 10 days later. Yes, I was annoyed when we arrived but staff were so helpful in making sure they could do everything possible to sort out the situation. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Upgraded to executive room, a corner suite very nice. Down side no safe in room.

Green Features: Same as most US hotels. Improve by having one bottle of shower gel etc in shower so not using lots of small bottles and individual soaps

Although it's not in the most scenic part of town, this was a nice hotel in a convenient location. It was an easy and safe walk to the convention center, and the Metro was a block away. Sightseeing was easy with a longer walk or the metro. The concierge helped us out of a jam one night, and the free breakfast had lots of choices. The staff was friendly. Overall a good value and we were very happy.

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend in April for the Cherry Blossom Festival and some general DC sight seeing. We originally booked a hotel near the airport, but decided to stay here due to it's location. This section of DC has the majority or restaurants in proximity to the mall and museums. There is a metro station about 2 blocks away, but we ended up walking to most places. We got to the hotel a few hours prior to check in and drop our bags and the staff was able to get us to our room at that time which was very nice. Here's a list of pros and cons

Pros:
nice updated rooms
good beds
quiet
nice lobby
standard Marriott breakfast buffet
great location

Cons:
was very busy....but expected given the time of year

The bed in the handicap room in DC was way too high and the toilet way too low. Hotel staff claimed that is standard. We then went to the Marriott Brooklyn Bridge and their handicap room was much nicer. Both had nice showers.

I was very pleasantly surprised at this smaller well located property. It was cherry blossom weekend which filled the hotel to capacity but the staff was all over it. From the Valet parking to the concierge service all was great. Unlike a more upscale Marriott property there was no suave or elegance here, just tremendous service and value. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable and the breakfast more than ample.

The property is small and a bit cramped for a capacity crowd but all is handled in a highly professional manner. I give a big shout out to all the staff here - they all deserve a raise. Danielle, the concierge is all over the place making everything run smoothly. I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Go higher, probably quieter. Corners have more windows.
