“Great hotel, bad location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2012

At this hotel we started our 3 weeks road-trip from Washington to Boston. First of all I'd like to point out that it already was a challenge to find the hotel loaded with bags and suitcases. Perhaps the hotel could communicate, when booking a room, that there is a shuttle-service from central station to the hotel. Anyway, when we finally arrived at the hotel, it didn't look very welcoming from the outside, but once inside there was a beautiful lobby with friendly personnel. We got a room at the side of the railway, and also our airco-system was rather noisy, but with good earplugs I didn't have any problem sleeping through the noise :-).

The hotel room and bathroom were very large and clean, the bed was comfy. And the receptionist called us half an hour after arrival at the room to check if the room met our expectations. The main attraction during breakfast were the waffles you could bake yourself, furthermore they had great coffee, so breakfast was ok but rather basic.

As I said before, the hotel has a shuttle service that brings you from and to central station, but do make sure you catch the shuttle on time as the seats are limited (check departure times with the receptionist!).

The hotel offers free use of a computer in a separate room at the reception desk (you need your room badge to get in) and free use of some fitness training equipment.

When checking out I found personnel being less friendly compared to when we checked in. But overall I was happy to start our first four nights in the US in this hotel.

I was in town for a College Basketball game that was being hosted at Catholic University. I am not familiar with the area therefore was looking for a hotel in close proximity to the college. I will have to say my experience was less than desirable. The area is less than desirable and I would not recommend going out unattended. There were no wash clothes in room. There was no hot water it was Luke warm at best for showers. The "free breakfast" was a joke. It was overrun by other guests and the hostess could not keep up with the guests and keeping food available for all. The only positive was the room was clean . The shuttle left without us and the night clerk had to call him back. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We booked 3 nights of an economy 2 Queens bedroom.
This hotel was much nicer than we expected after all.
At the time of booking, I knew that 30 people rated TERRIBLE, I was little scared of what's outcoming, but we decided to take a chance since it was very good deal, $90/night and
parking free + hot breakfast buffet!
My husband and I believe that this hotel doesn't deserve TERRIBLE at all.
I admit that their location is not convenient at all though.
Since we had our own vehicle there was no problem at all.
I highly recommend this hotel as long as you travel by car.

The room was very spacious, modern, clean and updated except for the door.
Nice hot breakfast with variety of stuff and pleasant staff.
Only 3 things that we didn't like about was their heavy & thick comforter and tiny pillow and
little bit of noise from train(it didn't bother much though) running every hour.
I recommend you to request the room on New York Avenue side but not on railway side.

We saved a lot staying at this hotel.
We would definitely like to stay this hotel again!

Room Tip: As I stated above, request room on New York Avenue side, probably less noise.

The room was fairly big, comfortable bed, free Wifi and partly hot breakfast. You can make your own waffles, hot sausages. Coffee available 24x7.Staff is very helpful and makes the stay worth it. They go out of the way to help and give directions to places you want to go to. The room decor was very average so do not expect anything fancy. The only issue is that the hotel is not close to Union Station as the name suggests. Though they have a shuttle service to & from Union Station but it is shut in the middle of the day from 11am - 5 or 6pm. During this time you do not have a choice but to take a taxi to & from Union Station as there is no other transportation available and you cannot walk (distance to station is 2.8miles). The shuttle service is also availabe only every half hour in the morning and every one hour in the evening, last shuttle at 10pm. Sometimes due to traffic during peak hours the shuttle can be delayed and you may have to wait for half an hour or so. Plan accordingly.

This is an older, refurbished hotel; clean as a whistle! Not in the best section and really not that close to Union Station. BUT, the Staff there makes this hotel one of the best!! I was there with my two grandsons, and we were treated like royalty!. The Manager, Samira, went out of her way to assist us, as did each and every staff member. The shuttle driver was accommodating and the woman that ran the wonderful free breakfast buffet were outstanding. We plan to stay there on our next visit.

The hotel is OK for what it is (average, not too expensive), but "near Union Station" is NOT TRUE. My taxidriver said 2.8 miles. No viable public transport nearby, so one relies on hotel minibus (hourly 8-11 am and 5-10 pm). Hotel is between a busy dual carriageway (6 lanes in all) and 4 trainlines. Industrial-type area. Would not be safe to walk or run nearby. Comfortable room. Adequate breakfast. Pleasant staff. My first visit to the USA and had hoped to be within walking distance of cafes, restaurants, the metro etc..

I went on business travel and it was about the only room I could get in town but not convenient as it is not "near union station" except by a shuttle and you have to call a cab otherwise - no metro nearby. Not safe to go running on NY Ave and overall it felt run down and way overpriced for what it was. Service was sub-par and the front desk was overworked and too few staff to help. My room was above the train line so throughout the night I was woken up by a train roaring by (on its way to Union station!)

Room Tip: Don't go unless you have to
