“Decent location outside city centre, nice staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

I chose this hotel as it was cheaper than the majority of hotels in DC, it's outside of the centre but right beside the metro and only two stops to union station. Since I knew I would be using the metro for the majority of sights, the location was perfect. There is burger diner across the road which looks cheap but great burgers. There's not a lot in the area. There is a gym and pool in the hotel but very small. Limited bar menu. Internet available in reception with free printing. Rooms were good size and clean. I did need to change the room the first night as the air conditioning was very loud but no hassle changing.

Note for visiting the white house and the pentagon you do need to arrange this weeks in advance, I tried two weeks before but was told it was too late by the Irish embassy.

“Not a Super Marrio-tt”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

I have stayed in a number of Marriott hotels around the world and this is not one of their better ones. It is located in what looks a run-down area with adjacent construction work and overground metro lines. There appears to be little parking options other than the valet parking provided by the hotel at a massive $33/night. The restaurant and bar close at the ridiculously early time of 10pm, and while the lobby pantry stocks some overpriced snacks, soft drinks and beer, this is not what I associate with a Marriott hotel. The dinner and breakfast menus are limited, unexciting and expensive, as are the drinks. There are a few fast-food type eating places outside, but they appeared to be closed on the weekend we were there. On a more positive note, the rooms and ensuites are clean and reasonably sized and furnished and the hotel is right next to the NoMa Metro station, which is only a few stops from the Downtown sights.

I apologize that we were not able to exceed all your expectations. The NoMa neighborhood continues to develop and grow around the hotel. We are all very excited about the construction and development of the new retail shops and restaurants in the area. I do understand how the noise from the construction and the limited options of eateries in the area on the weekend can be frustrating. Thank you for the positive feedback about the rooms. The team takes great pride in providing an excellent product and ensuring every guest has a wonderful stay. – Chris Zanzano, General Manager

“Very new, very convenient, great staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013 via mobile

I've been coming to DC very frequently for a very long time and remember when this part of town was not a good place to stop. It's great to see such a huge turnaround and this hotel adds to it. The Metro is a 2 min walk from the hotel and about a 10 minute trip from the museums. The staff is extremely friendly and the rooms are immaculate. The comforter on the bed could be thicker but that's what the heat is for I suppose. The parking charge is steep but you're not going to find any better rate at any other place so close to the Capitol. Worth it in my mind for the time and money saved on traveling from a hotel in Virginia. Best of luck to you if you think you're going to drive downtown and find a parking spot. I did get a little nervous when I looked out my window and saw a Metro train run directly past the hotel, but the room was very quiet and the noise was barely noticeable. The Metro doesn't run all night anyway. The room rate was very fair considering the proximity to attractions and the fact that much older hotels charge about the same or more and charge for wifi (I'm looking at you, Embassy Suites). I will definitely stay here again and look forward to my next trip.

I have found a very nice Marriott property in Washington DC. I stayed here from Dec 17- 20th for the first time and it was a great experience to be sure! Wonderful attentive staff an incredibly comfortable room and convenient in every possible way! This hotel has and does it all well and Marriott should be very proud of this property

“Very surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

When I drove up to the hotel, I really did not know what to expect. The location is not high on eye appeal - lots of construction going on - and obviously commercial, but the convenience to the Metro is great. Union Station is only one stop away. The hotel is immaculately clean and well maintained. The staff is very helpful and definitely customer focused. Nice clean rooms and bathrooms. Three elevators so no long waits. Full bar with great service and pretty good food. Since there aren't many restaurants in the area, the lobby bar is a great alternative. Valet parking only.
