“Excellent value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014 via mobile

Interesting hotel. Pluses, very large suite, newly renovated, marble floors, nice shower. Minuses, renovation was not done by the finest artisans, fairly rough. I stayed in 504 and the dishwasher was half installed. BUT really roomy and considerably less than the new Marriott across the street.

Stayed at hotel with two granddaughters in their 20's. They were awestruck with the facility. Best hotel they had ever stayed in. I have to agree with them. Close enough to activities and if not close to where your want to go. A cab ride is reasonable.

We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. My sister-in-law was nice enough to pay for the room as a birthday present to my wife. We got in very early, way before check in around 10am. We all met up at the front desk. We were told that a room wasn't available since the hotel was sold out last night, which was completely understandable. So, my sister-in-law gave the guy at the front desk a her ID and CC to make a copy so when we came back to the room, she didn't need to be there. After a long day in the city, we returned around 5:30pm. The guy that was at the desk this time didn't have the copy of the CC or license and really wasn't interested in helping us, nor was he friendly about it. So, my sister in law came up to the room and got us checked in.
That being said, the room was excellent. Very large, nice seating area, lots of closets and a nice kitchen. The only downside was there isn't a TV in the bedroom, but no big deal. All in all, we were happy with the room.
The next morning, we went down to the lobby to have breakfast as they serve breakfast from 7-9am every day, only the room wasn't open. The guy manning the front desk had no idea when the room would be open and really didn't offer us any options to go to for breakfast. We eventually found the Cozy Corner Cafe around the block, and that was excellent. If you are staying here, go there for breakfast.
All in all, the room worked out well, but the staff was horrible. I wouldn't stay here again.

My daughter and I stayed here while visiting Washington, DC. The room was quite spacious with a separate bedroom and a full kitchen. The bed in the bedroom was extremely comfortable, but the sofa bed was just the opposite. The springs made it very uncomfortable to sleep on. There was a tv in the living room but not in the bedroom, something I think would be a nice added touch. The bathroom was wonderful. I read in other reviews that there was a problem with the hot water in the shower. We did not experience that at all. We had plenty of hot water. The hotel is a couple of blocks from the convention center, which is where the metro station is. Very convenient. Also, there is a CVS around the corner for misc food items. The lobby and hallways are not "homey" but they serve a purpose. All in all, a good hotel.

If you want practical and central, the Eldon is perfect. I like having my own space e.g. to prepare food rather than a hotel, this ticked all the boxes. Only downside was the very noisy building works going on next door which woke me up each morning (incl. weekends). If staying in near future I'd recommend asking for a room on other side of the hotel.

We stayed for one night as we went to a function in Washington at a location a few blocks away. It is very nice. Beautiful marble floors, a huge suite with a kitchen although we didn't use it. The bed was really comfortable. It is very clean. You park your car in the adjacent parking lot. The staff was very courteous. It was a very pleasant stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

Pros: Rooms are very nice. Our room was basically a luxury 1 bedroom apartment complete with kitchen (oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, etc.). It's 1 block away from Mt. Vernon metro stop.

Cons: Beware of extra charges. $6 for a continental breakfast that has no fruit, yogurt, or meat. It's basically a pastry selection (if you bought pastries at your corner store). $30 for parking overnight, $40 if you want to go in and out. Also if you're looking to go to any of the national museums, the Mall is about 10 blocks away.

Our bad experience: One of the smoke alarms had a dying battery and started beeping at 2am. When we told the front desk in the morning, they told me that I should have alerted them immediately making it seem it was my fault. If they just apologized and said they'll take care of it, I would have taken it in stride.
