We booked this hotel for 3 nights, Sept.5-8. It was a pre-paid reservation through Expedia. We only stayed 1 night. It was one horrible night.
We went there all the way from.Puerto Rico. It was a quick getaway, and the pictures looked nice. I didn't see the reviews on this site...never again. If I would have read all these comments, I would have avoided one of the worst nights if my life. This place needs to be shutdown immediately. The smell is foul, the room is disgusting. The door did not close, the staff is rude...please, DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE WE MADE: DO NOT STAY HERE. We could not get a refund, but we didn't care. We checked out on Sept. 6 and went to the Holiday Inn on C Street. It was heaven, and our vacation was saved. The District Hotel is a dump, and on Monday I'll call to require an inspection from the Health Department.

OK, that's a pretty basic hotel, bathrooms are a bit old and equipment is not top of the top, but I found staff friendly and the location is really excellent, 15 minutes walk from White House.
Don't expect huge variety at breakfast, although we did not have problems of refills.
There is a great "Whole Foods" supermarket minutes away.
My only real criticism is about aircon, which is REALLY noisy.
Should this hotel be in a remote suburb, I would rate it as "Poor" (for the price), but for our family trip, it proved "Very good".

I booked a room on the web handled by Hotelopia. When getting to the hotel for checking in there was no room available, the hotel staff claimed that there had been some rooms 'out of service'. They had relocated us to another hotel further away from the city to a room without a daylight window in the basement, that did not like. Trying to contact the Hotelopia and get a refund was unsuccessful so we had to accept the other hotel.
It is very strange that from one evening to the afternoon the other day that rooms just no longer are avaliable.

The people at the front desk is amazingly rude, they doesn't help you, they have terrible mannners. The cleaning service never give soap, we have to take one ourselves. The breakfast it's very simple (waffles, pancakes,coffee, non natural orange juice) and runs out veryfas, if you ask the hotel guy to refill something he says only ask another one. There is one latin guy who speaks spanish (my first languague) with the staff but whenever I ask him anything in spanish he always speaks in english. The bed is old as the hotel, the room is very tiny, there's no way you open to bags at the same time. The room's door open from inside in the way to the hall not to your room, it always seems to be open even if its not. The walls are very thin you can listen everything other peoples say. There is no closet, the elevator its been broken for a long time. DONT GO TO THIS HOTEL
