Definitely charming, the old inn is loaded with atmosphere. But the room lights are very dim, rooms lack television and hair dryers, and there are no elevators. There is a beautiful lounge and restaurant on the first floor. Just be prepared for the quirky combination of antique and wifi. I am not sure I would have chosen it myself, but I was part of a group of 8, and someone else was in charge of accommodations. We were here 5 nights, and this seems like a two -night stay, in my opinion. Convenient to many sights and to Metro.

- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
-
The Tabard Inn is a quintessential boutique, bohemian, historic, and eclectic 40-room hotel all wrapped in one. We have probably the best location of any hotel in all of Washington DC. A quiet side street only five blocks from the White House. A huge selling point of the Tabard is our restaurant and bar, both highly rated and award winning. Considering the reasonable prices of our rooms, food and drink, and the fact that breakfast is included with the room rate, the Tabard Inn is a no-brainer. However, it is not for everyone. There is no bell hop, no elevator, no room service (and who needs it when the bar/restaurant are only steps away, no TV (who needs it with free WIFI with excellent coverage), no gym or pool (but we do offer complementary passes to the state-of-the-art YMCA around the corner. It's your choice. A unique experience or the same-old, same-old.
