“Perfect for a quick sightseeing trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

This hotel is very centrally located and within walking distance of the White House, the National Mall and the Capitol. The room was clean with the usual heavenly bed and the amenities were all acceptable. We had a package which included breakfast buffet (not a huge choice but great quality food and friendly efficient service). We ate in the bar two nights. The caprese salad, burger, salmon and Waldorf salad were fresh and beautifully cooked and presented. Service there was great too. We had only one criticism but have not marked down the hotel for this...on check In, we were given one breakfast voucher for each of the 3 days. It was for 1 person only, we discovered the first morning. Our server remedied the situation (and got us one each) but seemed frustrated and remarked that it occurred a lot. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Our room looked on to the covered atrium. It was on a corner and had two outside walls adjoining the...

I have stayed at the Westin in prior trips to Washington, which is one of the reasons I selected it for this trip. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The property is clean and the room is always very comfortable. The recent remodeling adds to the appearance and presentation without distracting from the service. One of the strong points of the hotel is its location within walking distance of many of the tourist sites visitors desire in DC.

We loved our stay at the Westin. The rooms were large in size and the beds were very comfortable. All the amenities in the room were of good quality. There was a large screen flat TV with a good selection of HD channels. The hotel is a short 10-15min walk to the White House and about 1.5-2 miles from all the major attractions. The staff was very friendly and efficient except for the guy at the front desk at who seemed to be too sleepy to know what he was doing at 6am in the morning when we checked out. There was one hitch though. When we reached the airport we found one of our bags broken. The person who helped us with the bags at hotel seemed to have messed up. However, we were thankfully able to get it fixed. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

You can not beat the location. In walking distance to shops, food, mall, offices etc. The subway is a fourish blocks away. The service was great. The food and drinks are pricy but what do you expect from a hotel. A breakfast for $22 is very steep. The room was comfortable and very quiet! The hotel in general needs some updating which is going on now. As a suggestion more food needs to be offered at the coffee station as far as food. For now people should go the the West Wing Deli next door.

Room Tip: Eat breakfast at the West Wing next door

2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2014

My husband checked in a day earlier than I did. On my arrival, I only had to show my ID and was given a key; good enough. My husband left early the next morning to attend a meeting. I called the front desk and asked them to attend to the room as soon as possible as I was not feeling well and I left the room to try to eat something. I returned an hour later and no one had serviced the room. I called the front desk, told them no one had come yet and asked for service again. I left the room again and went to the lobby to sit. An hour later I returned to the room and it was still not serviced. I called again and told them that I needed to lie down, but to send someone as soon as possible. When no one had yet arrived by 4pm, I called again and was told that I had 'refused service'. At this point, I asked that fresh towels be sent to the room.
The following day was no better. The room was not serviced again. Again I called and asked from fresh towels. The third day, they finally got their act together and serviced the room appropriately.
On arrival, my husband could find no remote for the TV, called down, and was brought a remote. Several days later, we found the remote under the bed.
Probably not the best time to have been there, as they were renovating one set of elevators, so getting from room to lobby/restaurant was challenging. Several times, we were taken through a service elevator.
Don't think we'll ever return to this hotel as no apology for the (lack of) servicing of the room was ever received.

Hotel is very compact but has a nice lobby bar and comfortable feel. The rooms are small but very well done with all the amenities you would expect from Westin. There was elevator work going on so the wait times were very long, sometimes up to 15 minutes for an elevator. After the first we adjusted our schedule to accommodate this but they were so full there were stops on every floor. Front desk as very nice and accommodated a last minute request with a smile. Would try staying her again when I know they are not renovating something.

The Westin DC city center is great! We arrived and the room was not ready as yet, we checked in and they took out bags and placed them in a secure bag room next to check in. The hotel was great, rooms were cleaned everyday, the bed was super comfy, the bathroom amenities were great. The hotel is in a great location, its walking distance to basically everywhere in DC and if not you can always catch the subway. For the price and the location and being a Westin hotel everything was A+
