“Comfort of home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2014

I go to this hotel for business. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. Check out little pluses like an umbrella in your room. The toiletries are upscale. They have a nice little wine tasting in late afternoon. The service is great and the hotel is close to everything including union station. The restaurant is fantastic. Check out the fantastic burger and there are plenty of upscale items. Cute bar too.

Well, profgirl, it's about time somebody noticed how adorable we are! Thank you for this fantastic review. We'll look forward to seeing you again for wine hour and perhaps a burger, too.

Cheers,
Kiah

I've stayed in a number of DC hotels, usually close to where I have meetings, and this is by far my favorite. The staff is perhaps the friendliest I've ever experienced, offering to do everything from looking up addresses to bringing new keys to my room when mine didn't work. The room was very roomy, large enough to actually use the yoga mat in the closet. As a Kimpton Karma member (sign up, it's free) I also had free wi-fi and a $10 mini-bar credit. The location is great, close enough to the Mall for an early morning run and close enough to Union Station for an afternoon dash anywhere. I loved the boutique feel of the hotel from the great decorating in the rooms to the wine hour in the evening. Now I'm just hoping that I have more meetings in the area so I can come again!

I chose this hotel for our DC vacation because of its reasonable price, parking special ($10!) and proximity to some of DC's attractions. The hotel was beautiful, our room was quite comfy, and the staff was fantastic. We had arrived a day late due to a cancelled flight and they refunded our first night's stay without us even having to ask. Once we checked-out they allowed us to keep our luggage there while we ventured to see the sights.
Our first evening there we left the hotel at 5:30 to eat and sight-see and came upon two separate incidents involving police and locals very close to the hotel. Some of the city blocks immediately surrounding the hotel have the potential to be a bit rough.
Be aware that DC is quite large and spread out. A walk from this hotel to the Lincoln Memorial is lengthy.

We stayed here for 2 nights while on vacation in DC and absolutely loved it!
Pros:
- excellent front staff
- really nice and comfortable room with beautiful modern decor
- loved the free $10 mini bar coupon and free internet (sign up for their loyalty program)
- excellent location in DC only 3 min walk from Union Station (metro)

Cons:
- the only thing I can think of is that it would be nice if the hotel added some beer options to the free 5-6pm happy hour :)

Overall, we really enjoyed visiting DC - so much to see - just bring comfortable walking shoes or take taxis/metro (both very easy to use/access). While in the city we dined at Bistro Bis (at the hotel) and Founding Farmers and really liked both. The highlights of our sightseeing were the big National Mall sights and doing the Pentagon tour.

Just returned from DC where we stayed at The George for 3 nights. What a great place this is. A boutique hotel right by the capital and close to all the sights. Checkin was a breeze and staff very friendly. Room was clean and a nice size given the small rooms you find in DC these days. All immenties were in the room, from the great shower soaps, to the robes, kerrig coffee maker, iPod dock and numerous USB charging ports. The hotel has all the George Washington feel from the pics to the bedspreads. We could not have been more pleased. We had an early flight so I asked that my car be brought up at 5:15am and sure enough it was there early and waiting right out front. While we did not eat at the hotel we did enjoy drinks in the bar every evening and the great atmosphere. I thought from the price point, location, and quality of a hotel...this place is a gem!

My wife and I stayed here for part of our Honeymoon and were not disappointed! Classy and within walking distance of The Mall where you find the majority of the main museums as well as the US Capitol, Washington Monument and White House. Because we were using the Amtrak Train Service, we found the location for this to be first class. Literally a stones throw from the Station which suited us perfectly. A great 2 night stay and with an extremely helpful front desk (especially Blair), we would definitely return!

We stayed at the "The George" for two nights during a recent visit to NYC and Washington DC. I chose this hotel because of its proximity to Union Station (probably less than a 5 minute walk) and the National Mall was maybe a 10 minute walk. I had booked a room with two queens and a sofa bed for our family of four. We arrived close to 9 pm off the train and were told we would be in the Presidential suite which had a king and a sofa bed. I initially was disappointed in that because of the bed situation- but quickly got over it when I saw the room! It was gorgeous! The kids loved it so much they didn't mind sharing a sofa bed.
The George Washington décor of this hotel only added to the fun of our Washington DC vacation. There is a really good café right around the corner that we ate at a few times as well. Overall it was the perfect place to stay and would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: The Corner Bakery Café (right around the corner) is a great place to eat and you also have the optio...
