We spent the second half of our trip here, having spent the first at another Kimpton property, the Rouge. Our personal preference was the Rouge, but that is not to say the George is not nice. It can definitely be said that it caters to a different crowd, a more seasoned population if you will.
The lobby is spacious and bright, and the staff was very friendly. As with other Kimptons, the wine hour is key.
Room: The room itself was really just ok. Not really much better than your average room in a hotel like the Marriott. The temperature regulation was poor and it was definitely uncomfortable at times. The TV was also a strange setup and seemed to be hanging crooked off its fixture.
Location: The location is pretty good. Just steps from Union Station and only a few blocks from the Capitol. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is just down the street and I recommend visiting it after dark when it's lit up. It is a little strange how this part of town absolutely shuts down at night. We're talking 10PM on a weekend and absolutely no one else is even on the street.
Parking: Over $40 a day is tough, but we had to park the car. I think next time we'd look at the option of parking at Union Station.
We heard they'll be renovating this year, so maybe that will address some of our issues. At this point, though, while it was a good stay, I don't think I'd spend the money to stay again.
