“Lovely Boutique Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

We stayed at this boutique hotel in August 2012 after dropping off our daughter at UMD. The staff was very friendly and had the admosphere of being at home, but with a chic flare. It is in a great location near the Capitol and Union Station. We were only here two nights and got a great rate through priceline. Absolutely no complaints except we wish we could have stayed longer!

We arrived by Armtrak at Union Station, just 5 minutes walking from Hotel George. After a very quick and friendly check-in to a room on the 4th floor we went to Capitol Hill, 7 minutes walking.
There is a metro station very close to the hotel.

Room was very spacious, impeccably clean and the beds very comfortable. There were pillows of various firmness. Lines were very good quality. The bathroom was large with great Gilchrist & Soames toiletries.

We had breakfast twice at Bistro Bis. The food was amazing but quite expensive. We recommend Union Station that has a wide range of delicious options with affordable prices.

There was a cooler containg water in the lobby and every afternoon happened a complimentary wine happy hour. If you sign up for In-Touch membership you get free wi-fi and additional amenities.

It was an enjoyable stay! Will definiteley return to the George next time we come to DC.

For Kimpton fans, Hotel George delivers what you are used to - great service, welcoming staff, and front desk staff that go that extra distance to achieve surprise and delight for Inner Circle guests. Here are my comments in brief:

Best Things about this hotel:
- It's only a 5-minute walk to/from Union Station and its a safe walk from that station at just about all hours. Union Station is great for boarding the metro, grabbing a light meal, or connecting to the Amtrak. From the airport (DCA), its a quick 25-minute, $4 Metro ride to Union Station
- It's a really easy walk to the Capitol and the mall and because of all the Capitol police in the area, it's a great place to take a safe nighttime walk to/from the National Mall
- Like all Kimptons, There is a free wine hour at 5:00 in the lobby.

Other comments:
- This Kimpton does not serve free coffee in the lobby in the morning. That was kind of a bummer, but there are single-cup coffee makers in each guest room with complimentary coffee.
- the rooms were a little tired, but they were clean and comfortable and the bathrooms were really nice.

I have stayed in many different hotels in Washington, DC and several different areas. I think I would choose Hotel George again due its close (walkable) proximity to The Mall, the museums and the monuments, as well as its convenience in terms of safe and easy access to the Metro.

Just got back from four days in DC with my 13 yr. old son. While the room was nice, it was about what you would expect in a big city -- smallish, a bit worn T the edges, but clean & comfortable. The staff on the other hand are some of the best and nicest that I have ever encountered. Really made us feel comfortable & welcomed. My son was obsessed with biking thru the city, so that was a nice perk. The location is great too.

Have stayed at the hotel for the family event. Immaculate service. Special thanks to Michael Love, my mom is your biggest fan forever from now and on. Your charm, professionalism, knowledge of where to go and what to do, recommendation where to eat were precious.

The George is close to Capitol Hill and very convenient for sightseeing at the mall for all the monuments and Smithsonian museums. The hotel is walking distance to union station for quick access to all parts of the city.

The vibe is modern and relaxed with a bit more of a business rather than a hip vibe, in a good way. Our room was spacious with a beautiful oversized bathroom with plush towels and lovely amenities. The room is designed well and the beds and pillows are SO comfy. The rooms are quiet and you can order up yoga mats which s a nice touch. Restaurant is pleasant and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A great plus: free bicycles which we used to ride from the hotel to visit the monuments. We were there for cherry blossom, so spectacular!

Rooms are reasonably priced, great value and a wonderful base for a visit to DC . I would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: We had a room with a very spacious at broom including a separate shower. Not sure if all are like th...

Based on reviews our family stayed at the George during the Cherry Blossom Festival. Our room was immaculate and well stocked with toiletries and towels. I think the best part was our warm welcome by Eduardo, after reading many reviews mentioning him here on TripAdvisor it felt like meeting an old friend. You can't beat the location from Union Station, a quick two minute walk. Also just a few blocks from the Capital and most museums. The kids also enjoyed the lemon water in the lobby upon our return from sightseeing. We were so busy sightseeing that we forgot to take Eduardo up on the offer to have milk and cookies delivered to our room before bed, maybe next time.
