“Excellent and Quirky”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

The George is a nice and fun boutique hotel. My room was quite nice: It was fairly large, had a nice and large bathroom, and had the usual Kimpton touchs(eg, leopard bathrobes). My room service meal was unusually good. The staff was attentive and friendly too.

One tip: go online to join the Kimpton Loyalty Program prior to checking in. By doing so, you will revive free Internet plus $10 worth of minibar items.

My sister and I were greeted by 2 very friendly and helpful people at the front desk- Edgardo and Jennifer. They were able to help us with an earlier check in which made things much easier for us. The room was very attractive - lots of counter space in the bathroom for two women. The restaurant was excellent- probably the best lamb shank I ever had in my life! I don't travel to DC often, but if I ever go again, I will try to stay at the Hotel George.

My partner and I stayed at the Hotel George for about a week and a half. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to help. The hotel restaurant, Bistro Bis, looked quite good, but we only had drinks and spent most of our evenings dining in the city. The nightly wine hour was quite enjoyable and gave us an opportunity to speak with other guests about their stay and experiences which builds a sense of community that I think is lacking in many other hotels.

There is a small gym downstairs that's adequate for a vacationer, or a short business trip. But the real strength of the hotel in my opinion is the knowledge of the staff. While I did get weird recommendations from one night desk clerk (the Holocaust Museum for a birthday seems like a bit of a downer), we got MANY excellent recommendations from the other staff.

Great access to Union station, and the metro, but the neighborhoods a few blocks to the immediate south are a bit sketch so maybe stay out of Judiciary Square, but there's no need to rent a car in DC. It's too much of a bother to try to park.

They sort of go out of their way to be a little different and I found it endearing. It's not the best hotel I've ever stayed at, but it's certainly above average. We booked without knowing it was a pet friendly hotel and had already made plans to leave our pets at a kennel. I wish I had known how pet friendly DC is, and in particular this hotel is. During the wine hour we saw a handful of people who had brought their dogs and we found ourselves missing our fur babies. Next time they'll stay with us.

Room Tip: Due to DC's zoning restrictions all buildings are about the same height so there's no rooms...

Had a great stay at the George at end of Sept 2012. The staff are very friendly and made us feel very welcome and nothing was an effort. The room was more than sufficient for 2 adults and two children. The free wifi was a big plus. We were on a family holiday from South Africa and the George was the perfect place to have access to the all the attractions the city has to offer. Proximity to Union Station was a major plus as we could catch the hop-on hop-off bus and have the choice from a variety of dining options. Will definitely recommend the George as a first class option

We spent a few nights at the George with our dog, Cooper, a bichon. We had never traveled with a dog before, but The George made the expereince so much fun! Cooper loved the treats they had waiting for him. But more, he loved the attention everyone gave him. During the evening, during the complimentary happy hour, Cooper joined in and was the star attraction. When we went to dinner and Cooper did not want to stay in the room, they "dog sat" him at the front desk!
We have stayed at the George before and found the place very welcoming - above and beyond!

This boutique Hotel is modern, but not luxurious. It is pet friendly, the rooms are spacious, the bathroom is nice, and the staff is very friendly. The location is great, near Union Station (where you can rent a car, there is a Hertz in the second floor of the mall inside) and near the Capitol. Every single attraction is in a walking distance from the hotel. There is also a bunch of restaurants nearby. I would definitely return and recommend to everybody.

We just checking into this hotel tonight after coming in from New York where my wife and I got married. We have stayed in a number of hotels over the years in Dallas, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, and many other places, and I have to say this place by far went above and beyond for the two of us. We received great service after my wife inquired (secretly) into champagne, rose petals, and chocolate covered strawberries. It was all here when we checked in. I was lost when both Bria and Edgar were congratulating us on our marriage, which I had no idea they knew about. They then upgraded us to an amazing suite, which was beautifully done with rose petals when we walked in. A wonderful surprise, thank you Hotel George, we will definitely be back!!
