Customer service was not high on the list of activities the owner chose to demonstrate during my recent visit. We arrived late, as prearranged and mutually agreed. The room was a shambles! As we learned the next day, the owner had made a few extra dollars by accepting a last minute, one night booking for the night prior to our arrival. We called the owner upon making discovery of the dirty room, with linens scattered about and musty odor in the air. While he lives only a short distance away, he would not be bothered to come and tend to his responsibilities. Instead, he insisted the only way to get through the night was that we must find linens in the laundry room and make the bed. He sent flowers and refunded one night of our week long stay the next day. Inadequate performance, inadequate compensation and a generally poor demonstration of care and concern for guests.

Room Tip: Room #3 fronts the back alley, sports a mild mildew odor and is occasionally visited by very large c...

This was our first experience at a VRBO lodging. Overall it was a good experience. The room though small was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The location was wonderful, a couple of blocks off of Connecticut Avenue north of Dupont Circle. An easy walk from the Dupont Circle Metro Station. The first night started rough, however, when the smoke detector began beeping at 4:00 am. Removing the bad battery did not stop it, a quick trip to the nearby Rite Aid and a new battery took care of the problem. City street noise and some noisy neighbors made for a restless night. The difficulties of staying in lodging without an on site manager became obvious. The hotel ran out of coffee, the message was that they were waiting for a shipment. Don't understand why they couldn't go the the store and get some more Keurig cups to supply the residents but not a big issue. Plenty of restaurants, clubs, and shops in the area. Overall a positive experience and one I would be willing to repeat.

Thank you for taking the time to write, we really appreciate the feedback. You bring up good points and we will take steps to avoid these "hicups" in service in the future. All batteries in the building will be swapped out now every January so we do not have to worry about chirping alarms again. We will increase our onsite inventory for coffee capsules, we were busier than expected this October, and the shipment was delayed with Columbus Day. If it happens again, we'll pick up capsules at Safeway to tide us over.

We would be delighted to host you again on a future visit to Washington, come visit us again. A small but excellent restaurant will be going into our space on the ground floor this winter as an additional amenity to our guests.

Everything about this stay was positive even prior to the trip. There was a very high of communication and booking was easy. I worked closely with Kevin and he is very professional. It was a great day overall and fantastic neighborhood. It took me approximately seven minutes to walk to the metro and I loved it because you walk through the heart of Dupont Circle.
It is also extremely close to Adams Morgan which is a fun neighborhood. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to write. The reasons you cite for loving DuPont Place are the same reasons that convinced us to buy the building and convert it to short-stays for professionals traveling to Washington.
We would be delighted to host you again on a future visit to Washington. In the meantime let your friends and colleagues know about us. :-)

We walked to great dining each night and easily to the metro when needed. Clean place. The air condition easily masked the noise of the street. We loved unit 4. We would stay here again. We went to restaurant Nora for a fabulous meal for our daughters 24th birthday also highly recommended. They are on open table.

This is a lovely apartment in a great location. It was really hot during our stay but the fan upstairs was perfect at night and the air con was great too. The apartment had everything we needed and it was a bonus having access to an on-site laundry. The main shopping area had some lovely restaurants and the train was close by. You can walk into the city if you are feeling energetic which we did a few times. The neighbourhood is delightful.

I usually try not to stay in hotels, and I came across DuPont Place. The room was exactly like it was described, a bit snug, but it was only me, so there was no reason to have a lot of room to stretch out. I was there for a conference at the Washington Hilton, and this place was a perfect location. If you don't want to stay at the Hilton, this is a good choice, the walk to the hotel is less than 2 minutes, and I was there in the middle of summer, and heat is NOT my friend.

CONS:

I did like the blinds being able to block out the sunlight if you are a late sleeper, or work odd hours....BUT....if you are on a room such as the one I was in (#5), your windows are facing the street, and just as you can look out and see what is going on, people walking/driving can look in on you if you have the blinds up. Just as the pictures look, anyone from outside can see whatever you are doing in your room. My recommendation to management would be:

1. Get blinds that can open/close from the top AND the bottom, giving the patron an option to have natural sunlight without being gawked at by those passing by.
2. Install something on the windows that the patron can be comfortable to sit in the room, look out, but the "outside" cannot look in.

The downside is parking...I would recommend if you would like one of the THREE parking spots designated for guests, then you need to book your room early along with parking at the SAME time. You can park at the Hilton for $36/day, with NO in/out privileges, or you can try your hand and park on the street, but WATCH THE SIGNS because D.C. WILL tow your car in a heartbeat, and to the tune of ($250). Towards the end of my stay, there were issues concerning parking. Also, the "rules" with parking is not really a good deal...

1.There is a ZipCar that is always taking up a parking space so there are only THREE spaces.
2. The parking spaces are tight, so if you are coming a smaller car is recommended.
3. Management should only allow ASSIGNED parking...versus parking "where there's an open space". If you have Space A, then that is where you park during you stay ONLY.

Had a few issues with getting in touch with management on a few details of my stay, but at the eleventh hour, all issues were panned out, and my trip was very nice.

Just so you know, there is no one on site, and the doors are electronic, so you need to keep your front door/room door codes handy to get back in the facility.

All in all, I would use this establishment again, MINUS the parking!

Room Tip: There are only 7 rooms, so depending on what size room you choose depends on the location.

Thank you for the feedback on the blinds for unit 5. When we replace the window coverings that are in those street facing rooms we will heed your advice and install shades that go from the sill up.
We are pleased to be able to offer our guests the convenience of both an onsite ZipCar rental car by the hour and onsite parking. Our parking fee is a fraction of the cost charged at the Hilton directly across the street. Indeed, we prefer that parking is reserved in advance at the time you make your booking and we always inquire if you will require parking, this insures that we have availability for you. As with most city parking, our parking spaces are smaller, you will not want to bring your big Jeep Wagoneer.

We keep costs for DuPont Place low by not having staff onsite; our rates are generally 1/2 to 1/3 the rates across the street at the Hilton. Customer Service can be reached by phone between 7am and 10pm daily.

We hope to have the pleasure of hosting you when you are next in Washington, DC.
