Description: Asia Nine’s design draws inspiration from different Asian cultures.Jewel tones and rich woods envelop guests with a warm and exotic atmosphere. A glowing washi paper sculpture illuminates the backwall, appealing to the curious spirits of guests. Facing the front window on a raised floor is Asia Nine’s sushi and oyster bar decked out with wood elements, enticing red tile accents, and custom painted tables and bar top. In the main dining area, slate tiles in shades of silver, grey and black cover the floor and compliment dark walnut tables and chairs, seating 100. A long spring green tile bar, seating55, flanks the right side of the room with a bamboo forest background highlighted with a steel waterfall. Directly across the room are large banquettes, wrapped in bamboo with a floating trellis overhead. Just past the banquettes and up the stairs is a cozy lounge, known as the VIP room, complete with a full bar and seating 40.

“Seven!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

My family enjoyed the food at Asia Nine, especially my 2 year old niece. She loved the Sushi! The chicken satee wasn't my favorite. It wasn't bad but it was average. For a party of 8, service was excellent and we enjoyed the food.

“Great service, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

The staff was very friendly and the food was better than expected. The spices are a little hot for a mild, but still very good.

“Nice Food, Friendly Staff & Convenient Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

We found this establishment located not too far from our hotel (The Willard) during our trip to Washington. And for a Friday night, it wasn't too busy - we showed up around 7pm with a craving for Asian food and thought to give it a try.

Between the two of us we had three dishes (probably more than sufficient): the Korean Sizzling Beef wasn't great but the other two (Pad Woon Sen / Panang Curry) were both tasty and we demolished them both.

The waiting staff were quite attentive and friendly, and the food was served reasonably quickly so we enjoyed the meal.

Not the best Asian food we've ever had, but it was a welcome night out with the food hitting the right (flavour) spot!

“awesome authentic selection”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

The meal began with great service, the waiter patiently took the time to explain all the dishes we were interested in and helped us not to order too much. Without his help, we would have had the usual mundane asian dishes and much more than needed. Instead, we sampled Thai soups we never tasted before (go with the slightly spicy rice noodle soup with chicken and plenty of fresh veggies, or the ramen, both are very good). The ribs (short) were delicious, and all four different sushi rolls were fresh and beautifully prepared- especially the soft shell crab. Overall, service was excellent. Drinks at $13.50 were interesting and tasty (some with strawberry fusion balls of strawberry flavoring that burst in your mouth), they came in the strawberry leechee mojito special drink of the night. We also had a few dirty martinis and rounds of ice cold sapporo beer (only 2 for $16). All great!!
If I had one complaint, it was that my shushi was delivered so late in the meal that I had already tasted all the other dishes and was near full. The other sushi was all delivered earlier in the meal. The soup is huge- ask if you can split it or plan to bring some home, either way you will enjoy it. The sizzling korean beef was also very good (we finished it all).
The place was nicely lit with pretty decor (and clean). We can't wait to return to Asia Nine on our next trip to DC. Wish they had one in NY.

“Mediocre Food, Poor Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Asia Nine is a conveniently located, attractive Asian-fusion restaurant. It tries to serve several cuisines, but does not succeed. My udon soup was more tasteless broth than noodles, and a riff on Philly cheese steak lacked any taste of cheese. I like to wrap my summer rolls in lettuce, as is done with fried spring rolls; request denied. The waiter brought a wrong appetizer, replaced it, somewhat ungraciously, and then charged for both! He didn't bring our green tea until we asked for it again late in the meal. He nicely pored our first cup, but spilled some and didn't clean it up. The tea itself was over-brewed and an off-putting dark green color. We received the wrong check, finally got the right one, then had to send that back to remove the charge for the returned appetizer. I would give a rating of 2.5 for the food and overall, if that were possible.
