“Great stay in DC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Beautiful older home about 25 minute walk from the Mall. Comfortable room with full breakfast. What made our stay most memorable were the owners Charles and Jackie and the sit down breakfast with the other guests. Charming hosts and interesting conversationalists.

What a wonderful host and hostess! The home is so large and welcoming. We had fairly packed plans exploring DC while in town, but the living room was so inviting with a fireplace and fresh cookies and candy strewn about. The breakfast every morning was delicious. I've never stayed at a B&B where all were required to eat together at a certain seating time, but it was so lovely to do so and get to know other people, including the sweet couple hosting us, and have the food hot and fresh. Enjoyed my room thoroughly, took a jacuzzi bubble bath, in the clean bathroom. Could not have had a better stay!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights, and we had a fabulous time. The whole home is beautiful, inside and out. Our room (#4) was large, with a king size bed and a fireplace. The bathroom is quite small, but the shower worked very well. The owners are the reason this place is such a great find--we had wonderful conversations with them, they are warm and very down-to-earth. I thought that the introductions at breakfast table broke the ice, and did not feel forced at all--it would have been awkward to sit around a family table, and not know each other's names. The breakfast was different each day and wonderfully delicious.
Jackie was fantastic--she even loaned me her coat, gloves, hat and scarf when the weather turned much colder than we expected.
The neighborhood is lovely. The metro is not too close in any direction, but there are buses running on the next street.
overall, I would recommend this B & B highly, and will be sure to come back when we visit DC again.

Room was lovely, a bit small but very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a wonderful surprise and it is a delicious feast! The common rooms are stunning showing real old-fashioned elegant charm. The owners and the staff are warm and friendly, very helpful and they run the b and b beautifully. 14th street and P street --one block away-- are full of restaurants and shops, from the fancy to the practical.I would definitely stay again.

I live in Central American and travel to DC every three months on average. I have always stayed at the Aaron Shipman House unless it's fully booked. It has all the comforts of a beautiful, well-run home: lovely decor, great comfort, and delicious breakfasts. The rooms are scrupulously clean, beautiful, and have very comfortable mattresses. The hosts are genuinely hospitable and helpful. It is located in a wonderful neighborhood that boasts great restaurants and is near several metro and bus stops. It's the best B&B I have ever stayed in and will be my choice in DC whenever I travel there.

Room was lovely and very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a delicious feast! The common rooms are stunning. Real old-fashioned elegant charm. The staff are warm and friendly, very helpful (they even gave me a fare-card to use on the bus), and they run the b and b beautifully. (The owners were out of town, so we did not get to meet them.) 14th street--one block away-- is full of restaurants and shops, from the fancy to the practical (I needed a hardware store for my work). Coming home late at night on the metro, it was very easy to hail a cab to the B and B (though I was told the walk home was perfectly safe). Would definitely stay again.

My wife and I stayed at the Aaron shipman House during the inauguration. Jackie and Charles were welcoming, warm and very informative. Kinda like staying the part of your family you like. They guided us to several great restaurants and jazz venues during our stay. The neighborhood was very family friendly and central to points of interest in DC.
