Room was lovely and very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a delicious feast! The common rooms are stunning. Real old-fashioned elegant charm. The staff are warm and friendly, very helpful (they even gave me a fare-card to use on the bus), and they run the b and b beautifully. (The owners were out of town, so we did not get to meet them.) 14th street--one block away-- is full of restaurants and shops, from the fancy to the practical (I needed a hardware store for my work). Coming home late at night on the metro, it was very easy to hail a cab to the B and B (though I was told the walk home was perfectly safe). Would definitely stay again.

My wife and I stayed at the Aaron shipman House during the inauguration. Jackie and Charles were welcoming, warm and very informative. Kinda like staying the part of your family you like. They guided us to several great restaurants and jazz venues during our stay. The neighborhood was very family friendly and central to points of interest in DC.

We stayed at the Aaron Shipman House during the inauguration this past week. The neighborhood is beautiful, the house is spectacular, our accommodations were fantastic, but the best part was our hosts, Jackie and Charles. Homemade breakfast was served in their lovely dining room every morning (frittata, egg scramble, baked goods, fruit platter, coffee, tea, juice), and Jackie and Charles got things going with everyone introducing themselves and then leading lively conversation. They are extremely helpful with tips, directions, hand warmers (it was COLD!!), and the checkout process is a hug! Cookies are at the entrance each evening!! It was absolutely delightful in every way....we'll be back!!

The excellent A,B,C's of a B&B go to Aaron Shipman House and the fabulous Host and Hostess: Ambience, Art (Victorian), Breakfast (Wow-Fantastic), Comfort, Conviviality (such thorough knowledge of DC and local/world history)...Yep, a 'D' too... and Delightful ! ! ! Sal is especially grateful for the respect and help they offered to his 'neighbor' son, Tony, who is a local entrepreneur...
