“The Best of the Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2011

I was in D.C. for 2 days of business Jan 20-22. and decided to try the St.Regis. In the past I have worked for some of the finest hotels in North America, including the Waldorf Asoria and The Helmsley Palace. I was impressed with every facet of this property. The staff were warm and welcoming, especially the doorman, who sang and danced as he attended to his duties. The room was lovely, and the food was excellent. It was abolutely the best hotel experience I have ever had. Thank you.

We booked a one night stay as a getaway without the children and after a long drive, we were hoping to get a room with a good soaking tub and some room to relax. Luckily, at check in, the receptionist (unfortunately we lost her contact information) kindly upgraded us to a fantastic suite with a luxurious bathtub. It was one of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in! To top it off, the room service was prompt and delicious (both dinner and breakfast) and every encounter with the staff was curteous and professional without going over the top. As far as the hotel itself, the location is perfect - near all the sights and within walking distance to some very nice restaurants. There is also a very charming bar off the lobby that is perfect for a nice drink after dinner.

This hotel is located a couple of blocks from the White House, my husband could not believe that we were right there and so close! We drove in from Baltimore and the next day returned the car because parking is so expensive. We decided to take cabs whenever we needed to or just walk as some things were not to far off. What we would've paid in rental and parking fees we were able to use elsewhere. After you tally up what you spend on a cab it didn't even come close to what you would've spent on the rental and parking. The concierge were our closests friends, they used all their resources in making our stay there a magnificent venture. The Bellman even suggested great places to eat! It is rare that a hotel can be so personal with you and make you feel so at home! I totally can't wait to go back again!

St. Regis is in a great location and has excellent service. Everything is top notch. The only thing I didn't fully appreciate was the appointment of the hotel. The rooms were more 4.5 star as opposed to five. They are nice, I just expected more. They brought an iron and it was pretty beat up (not a big deal).

I'm rating this 4 stars, and it deserves 4-4.5 I just don't think it gets a 5 star rating. Officially they don't get it because the hotel doesn't have a spa (which seems stupid). It's certainly better than a Hilton but not a Four Seasons or Ritz (sometimes). Maybe I had unrealistic expectations...

Also, what is with hotel TVs these days? Even at these nice places they use some commercial hotel TV service and it takes a stupid amount of time to switch between channels and they are always not arranged correctly.

The St. Regis is known for it's "above and beyond" service, their attention to detail and the intimate feel you receive from the surroundings as well as the people. That being said, having stayed at other St. Regis properties, the St. Regis Washington D.C. was by far my favorite! The location is spectacular (right down the street from the white house), the accommodations are truly elegant, but the people are exquisite. The associates in all facets met every need, want and desire. We were greeted by a welcoming Front Desk Associate upon our arrival, the lobby bar associates were instinctive and friendly. We had the joy of meeting Alvin and learning about the pearl making process for the bubbly they serve there, and the Oh, the coffee is absolutley delicious! Best coffee I've had in a long time and I'm from Seattle!! I'd also like to highlight the "trail berry" or "berry trail" martinis, as they are devine! We met Ammar Samad, Director of Rooms, who was absolutely pleasant & charismatic beyond words and he ensured our stay was perfection. Leslie, the concierge gave the perfect recommendations on what to see in just a short, yet packed, weekend. Leslie was genuinely helpful in every way. All in all, it's one of the best trips I've had, even in the frigid D.C. weather, and the reason it was so enjoyable was after a long day of sight seeing, walking and soaking up as much of beautiful D.C. as possible, we knew we had a beautiful, serene, & comforting place waiting for us upon our return. Thank you to everyone at the Washington D.C. St. Regis as you made our first visit to D.C. truly memorable. We will return!

Since we are a part of the Starwood Preferred Guest program, we tend to stay only at Starwood properties and are, on the whole, very impressed with their hotels. We chose to celebrate my husband's birthday with luxuriating at the St. Regis in town - and it was one of our top experiences with the Starwood brand.

Once the staff realized it was my husband's birthday, they sent up a special treat as a welcome gift after checking in. We so enjoyed starting off the evening with a fantastic spread of champagne, cheese and raw honey.

The room was beautiful, the service was detail-orientated and full-service, and the atmosphere/decor was fantastic for the holiday season.

Thank you to the D.C. St. Regis for making my husband's 35th birthday that much more special!
