“Good but not great....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

The food is adequate for Chinatown fare and they sushi available too. The building is far more interesting, as it is the former Mary Surratt Boarding House associated with the Lincoln Assassination.

“Locals Love the Sushi!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

I live right in the Chinatown neighborhood, and Wok & Roll is my go-to spot for casual sushi, especially when I'm in the mood for takeout. The prices are very fair, the ingredients always taste fresh, and the flavors have the kind of depth you want in a good roll. Not the fanciest sushi in town, but if you want to pop in for some dumplings and a few rolls -- I recommend the Hawaiian and Tiger Skin special rolls -- then this is a great spot, especially if you can perch at a window table for people watching. Just look for the (slightly tired) faded blue awning, and don't let it deter you -- this small eatery is a solid choice, and even the building itself is historic: It was once the inn where John Wilkes Booth and his conspirators plotted their deeds. (I prefer it better as a sushi spot!)

“Good dumplings in a Historic House”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

I walked by Wok & Roll five or six times before I realized it was the historic Surratt House where John Wilkes Booth was staying when he plotted the assassination of Lincoln. Recently saw the movie the Conspirator (about Mary Surratt), so it had a bit of a draw for me. I ate here for a late afternoon lunch. The steamed dumplings were very good, I liked them as much as Chinatown Express. The sushi was ok. Not great, but not bad either. It was close to my hotel, and I liked the historic tie to it, but food was nothing special.

“great service, cheap tasty food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

they also have a full bar and can serve you a drink pretty quickly if you need; food is tasty and they have sushi if you want it. Very friendly staff but a somewhat stinky bathroom.
