“Enjoyable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2014

Unfortunately, our day at the zoo was rainy. That isn't the zoo's fault, but it put a slight damper on our visit. The pandas were off limits for the day and that was very disappointing. They did not have the web cams on either. We talked to a volunteer in the cheetah area and he was great! I could tell he had a genuine love and enthusiasm for the cheetahs. We learned a lot about the individual animals. The elephant area was also impressive. The zoo itself is free but parking is pricy.

“Great zoo, fun day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2014

This is a great place to spend a day. The setting of the zoo just outside the city is beautiful. The layout is nice and has a good flow. It can get pretty crowded but it's free so that's okay.

Parking is difficult.

“Amazing trip for free!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

It was not a short walk from the Metro Station, but not too far - and downhill on the return, which was a blessing after walking around the zoo! The Zoo itself was a very pleasant visit, and we did get to see a baby panda - a treat in itself. There was seating at regular intervals, and plenty of places for refreshment. The animals all seemed well maintained in good facilities, whilst still being easy-to-see. Well worth a visit.

“I saw a baby panda!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2014

I had to go see the baby panda Bao Bao during my recent visit to DC. The zoo is conveniently located near the metro. We walked the whole zoo and saw lots of animals including apes, orangutangs, lions, tigers, elephants, and invertebrate creatures. It took us at least 3 hours to see the majority of the zoo. However, the end of the zoo takes you someplace else so we had to walk uphill back to the other main entrance to get out of our location.

“Nice location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

Nice location and good for walk but very weird layout of park. Unfortunately, too many groups of school kids when we visited on a Friday.
