Washington DC is full of memorials and amazing "tributes". However, there was something so moving, about this simple tribute to the heroes of the Korean War. The statues, individually seem to tell their own painful story of the suffering that a war brings. The way the artist chose to position the soldiers, gives you the feeling that they are moving through the dense brush, trying to make their way with their heavy equipment. . The faces reflect the pain of their achy bodies giving out on them, the pain of missing loved ones, and the pain of their clothes being wet by the rain. I will recommend that you take a second and "take in" what this simple monument is trying to tell you. I think you will find that it becomes more than bronze statues in the middle of a park.
