“Take the time to see this...”

This is the history of America in fine art. The President's Gallery is what you expect and a lot more, but the entire museum is wonderful. There was a special exhibit on the Art of Video Games that was very interesting and interactive.

“A DC oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

I love the National Portrait Gallery. It has wonderful exhibits that change quite frequently - something for everyone even if you're not an art expert. It is never too crowded. The cafe in the covered quadrangle serves excellent food at reasonable prices, and makes for a relaxing lunch break. The Gallery store is also very good - varied merchandise and again, reasonably priced. If you haven't been, you should definitely go.

“I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the portraits and reading the brief statements about each former President”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

Large portraits of each President. The one paragraph description of each their presidency located next to their portraits made it very enjoyable. If you like history or art, you will like this.

“The best Museum in DC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

This museum, combined with the American Art Museum, which is in the same building, never disappoints. The permanent collection is great enough, portraits of the Presidents, for one, but the special shows are always unusual and interesting. A lot of pop culture, and themed shows of American Artists, to include photography.
I walk in on a regular basis and always find something new and fun to see.
