“I was lucky”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

I was lucky enough to visit this museum when they had the Hip Hop artists exhibit. Since I am a fan of old school hip hop, I was delighted to see portraits of Biggie, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane and others which was Very dope.

“Nice to walk through”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012

It was a nice break from walking to the Verizon Center. We stopped and just walked the first floor. Pleasant, enjoyed what we saw. Not necessarily on the top of the list when visiting with 12 and 10 year old boys, but very glad we stopped. We quizzed the boys to see how many people they recognized in their portraits. It was fun.

“Beyond any expectations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

Even the building of this museum was beautiful. All of the portraits displayed here were both aesthetically pleasing and historically enriching. While all the exhibits were superb, the "America's Presidents" exhibit was breathtaking. Many unique portraits of our Presidents. The atrium is also a neat sight. I would go again and again! I recommend!

“Wow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

As a general rule, I tend to quickly tire of art museums. Even after viewing two other art museums previously to this one, I couldn't get enough. We went back to this particular museum three times over two days. Something for everyone. SO much to see!!

“History in art”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

If you enjoy history and art you'll find both at the National Portrait Gallery. Another outstanding free museum in our capitol (take that, Tea Party zealots). Viewing the faces of some of the great names in U.S. history along with some lesser known lights was a great treat, Also, don't miss taking a break in the serene courtyard.
