Even if you never fly and don't think about spaceflight, this place is a treat for anyone. Don't miss it!
BUT, take a shuttle. parking is ridiculous!

“Turbulence ahead”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

This museum was a bit disappointing. It looks amazing with the full sized planes and space capsules hanging above you but it wasn't as interactive as I thought it would be.

Really liked all the displays that you could walk into in order to see things close up! Great stop for history, space and aviation buffs.

Unfortunately very crowded....but many planes can be seen hanging from the ceilings! The stories linked to famous people are worth reading...

“National Air and Space Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

Of all the Smithsonian Museums in DC, this is my favourite. It is packed with famous aircraft and space vehicles. Everything from Amelia Earhart's original Lockheed Vega to a mock-up of Skylab that you can walk through, you can spend a fairly long while looking around the two floors of exhibits. The highlight for me was to walk up to the original Apollo 11 command module, and look inside it. Wow.
And of course, thanks to the Smithsonian institution, it's all free to visit.
