“Good Starting Point”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

This should is a good starting point for visiting all of the Smithsonian Museums. They are helpful in pointing you in the right direction for your needs. They have information on each museum as well as maps etc.

“AKA The Castle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

A really fun building to look at and to wander through. But recently the edifice was converted into a generalized visitor center for the entire Smithsonian and as such there isn't an awful lot to see there.

Basically there are two rooms (with admittedly stunning architecture). The central one is the visitor center with gift shops, info kiosks, info desk and a small cafe. Off to the side is another with an exhibit (now, I don't know if it's temporary or permanent) of strange and interesting items in the museum's collection.

Everything else, including upstairs, are private staff offices and not open to the public.

“Great Museums!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

What more can one say about the Smithsonian? It's a massive set of buildings where you can see everything from ancient prehistoric bones to the world's most valuable jewels. There are tons of things for kids to do and see, so this is one you can't miss out on.

“natural history museum”

beautiful building and excellent artifacts. Lots of fun interactive things to do. The building is right on the national mall so easy access. The earlier you go the less crowded and it's free all day!
