“good view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

currently, the Monument is closed for repairs, but when it's open, it gives a great view of the entire area, is within walking distance of the metro and many other Smithsonian Buildings. The Monument has a great history and is also within a short walking distance of the famous cherry blossoms, so that would be a good week to visit the monument - and maybe it'll be open by then! Probably boring for kids under 10.

“wow.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

looks like a giant pencil, but as you go close to it it is impressive,it compliments lincoln memorial and its architecture is significantly in proportion to the memorial site.
It was great to view as you see it on T.V when the presidents speak and also of that famous movie "Forrest Gump".
It has clean surroundings and is of historicial significance.
we just viewed from the outside,it was good as got some good photo opportunities.

Still in REPAIR mode. You cannot go into it as it was damaged in the 2011 earthquake. But to be close to it is something special.

“Very tall but nothing special.”

A huge obelisk, a monument to George Washington, smack in the middle of the National Mall is the most imposing structure in the area. It would have been nice to visit inside and get to the top, unfortunately it was closed to tourists.
